Cars Enslave Us Rather Than Liberate Us
Cars have been in use since the year 1870. Since then their number on the roads has increased many times over. They also went through a lot of changes, both on the outside as well as on the inside. That’s why I definitely agree with this statement, and there are many reasons why. Firstly I firmly believe that people must work much harder in order to afford a car. Because they are not only expensive to buy, but also cost a lot to run. Nowadays the gas price gets higher and higher and also not to mention how much it costs to fix the damages if you break your car. That’s why I am inclined to believe that one has to work more hours if he wants to have a car and still be able to live a decent life. Secondly, I think that people who own cars are worried about them, especially when their cars being stolen or damaged. In order to cope with this worry, they have to install expensive alarm systems and, to make matters worse, car-owners have to avoid areas of the city where cars get broken into or stolen. Thirdly, I am convinced that an additional disadvantage of the cars is that the quality of life in our cities is made worse because of them. The toxic gases that cars eliminate pollute the air we breathe and this seems to threaten our lives every day. On the other hand, there are a lot of advantages of the cars. For example, you can set off to any place you want no matter what time of the day and if there is any public transport to there. Another advantage in my view that cars are very helpful in carrying things from one place to another. For instance, what would the pizza delivery boy do without a car? To conclude, it is clear that cars seem to have made our live easier and more convenient. And I feel that, in spite of all their disadvantages people will still use cars many years from now on. Otherwise, can you imagine the world without cars? But nevertheless in my opinion more cars give us much more problems than they solve and enslave us

Cars are a fantastic invention. They make our lives more carefree by getting us from place to place quickly while abolishing the need for legs altogether. In this book the author states, “By 1929, one in five families owned one while 27 million cars were on the road, in the driveway or parking lot, at the gas station or repair shop, or, increasingly, stuck in traffic.” This describes that automobiles were starting to be used everyday towards different things along the lines of transportation. Without the use of the automobiles, people weren’t able to get around to places as quickly as they could now. Another thing that the author did well on describing the way life was like for automobiles was when he stated, “Automobiles in particular transformed patterns of work for millions of Americans. The use of automobiles, together with that of their close relatives, tractors and trucks, created or markedly changed many jobs.” This describes that the use of automobiles changed jobs for Americans as they were able to get to their jobs faster, able to use more automobiles for their needs, and automobiles made the way people moved about the cities or regions they were…

The cost factor of transport by car or public transportation is quite a lot of time commuting that public transport will be out on top. These are some of the costs involved with traveling by public transport vs. the car. A car will need fuel, insurance, tax, maintenance and repairs and parking costs. For public transport the costs of tickets, food or drink, and newspapers for it is optional. When you look at things this way then there are obviously more costs involved with driving a car to work every day or to school. Some people would argue that rising public transport prices is the gap that is rapidly closing; however, there is a certainty the potential for more expense when using a car. Yet, some people may get lucky and have a very reliable vehicles that rarely something goes wrong and it would cost very little to run on fuel. I have always had very bad luck with cars, and have sometimes ended up paying double the value of the car in repairs and maintenance. There are some real advantages of using a car to travel to work rather than public transport although many of them are objective. What one commuter loves, another will hate.…
