1. What problems has Susan identified with the night shift operations of the Devil’s Den? How well does the management team perform such strategy execution processes as competency building, shaping the culture, instituting policies and procedures, establishing control systems, developing reward and discipline systems, and exhibiting ethical leadership?
The CFS organization at the Dan Devil’s snack bar lacks many of the needed basic tasks to execute a successful strategy for the business.
For competency building, staffing the organization was not based on selecting the right people. There was no training for the new staff or a continuous training for the staff working in the snack bar. This left the organized team with very limited capabilities.
CFS did not communicate policies except the one that allowed the staff to eat whatever they like during work time! There were no procedure clearly identifies how certain tasks and activities to be done. Rather those tasks were accomplished based experience got from other staff working in the snack bar.
CFS inventory can work as a control system to monitor the staff and their sale. Also, there should be a control over the lock for the storage area in addition to cash register. In addition, there is no tracking for the sales of the employees.
No rewards are provided to the hardworking members and those caring about the work. Even, those involved in pocketing were not punished. There is a very low increase of pay each semester for employees.
The culture within the snack bar is unhealthy one. It is Unethical and Greed-Driven culture. Employees’ actions are for their interest in an unethical manner.
Student managers were not of a good example to lead their staff. So, when the staff sees their manager taking food without paying or gifting food to their friends, staff does the
