A dictionary definition of a leader is a guiding hand in a movement or group. My definition of a leader is someone who stands out amongst the rest and steps up to the task and helps the “followers” advance and strive to become a leader as well. The only way a leader can be effective is by leading by example. A prime example of this is Malala Yousafzai. She was shot in the face for trying to go to school. If she hadn’t gone to school she wouldn’t have been shot, but she also wouldn’t have a Nobel Peace prize. She is now using her story to speak for access to education for everyone. A leader is someone who leads by example and uses their skills to help others succeed.…

However, sports figures can be a leaders too as the display many of the same characteristics. To some, athletes are merely playing a game while to others, basketball s more than just a game. This explain why Michael Jordan was such a global icon in the 90s. Jordan was said to be a leader in three main ways: as a player, as a champion, and as a global icon.…

Leading is stimulating people to be high performers (Bateman & Snell 2011, pg 15). Everyone thinks that they are a great leader. But the fact is that not everyone has the skills or mindset to be a great leader. We have all be around good and bad leaders, we tell ourselves to not become that bad leader. To be a great leader, you need to be able to enlist the support and aid of individuals to complete a common task. Some of the tools that a great leader has are charisma, intelligence, vision and situational awareness. Henry Ford was a great leader because he had all these tools that he used to create a global automobile company. Ford valued the people that worked for him; he showed this by paying them an extremely high salary for working on the assembly line. By doing this, he was able to attract the very best workers and by attracting the very best worker, you produce the very best product for customers to buy. He also thought that self-belief was essential. He preached it constantly because a leader that believes in himself, that belief becomes infectious and others will become inspired to believe in…

I consider Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to be the greatest leaders in American business. Over the past 25 years, technology was the industry of choice for many of the top business people. Microsoft 's Bill Gates and Apple’s Steve Jobs both exemplify the explosion in that realm. Gates, Microsoft chairman and world 's richest man, is the No. 1 business leader of the past quarter-century for his mix of entrepreneurial energy, dogged leadership and philanthropic interest. The points that make them great leaders are the fact that they were both great visionaries. For example Bill Gates vision was that “Every business and household must have a computer and must run Microsoft software” while Steve Jobs vision was “to make the best devices in the world, not to be the biggest”. Other important point was the fact that they considered failures to be learning lessons. Bill Gates quoted in one of his conferences that “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning”. Another important point that distinguishes them from being managers is the ability to recognize an opportunity and the ability to capitalize on that opportunity. Inspiring trust within the employees of an organization is also a key feature of a leader, a feature that was well executed by both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. It was there leadership qualities as well as their managerial skills that enabled them both to be huge business successes.…

Many people believe that leadership is simply being the first, biggest or most powerful. In January 2007, J. Lee Whittington presented the lecture on “Leadership legacy”, at a video tutoring session at University of Dallas. Leadership is an intentional influence. A leader is interpreted as someone who sets direction in an effort and influences people to follow that direction. Leadership is the ability to successfully integrate and maximize available resources for achieving organizational or societal goals. There are different styles of leadership but great leadership depends on vision, motive, and involvement of people in decision making process.…

Leadership is the capability to influence a person or a group to achieve many goals (Robbins, 2005). To elaborate, leadership is a complex process by which a person influences others to accomplish a mission, task, or objectives and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent by applying their leadership attributes such as values, ethics, knowledge, skills, and belief (Clark, 2000). Most importantly, not all leaders happen to be managers, and not all managers are leaders (Robbins, 2005). Even though one is positioned as a manager or a supervisor (he has the power to accomplish certain tasks within the organization) it does not necessarily mean he is a leader unless he makes people…

To begin with a word, called 'leadership', a lot of ideas have been drawn out from philosophers or leaders; such as, "Ability of an individual to influence, motivate and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization (House et al 2004 p 184)" or " The behavior of an individual.. Directing the activities of a group toward a shared goal(Hemphill & Coons 1957 p7)". However, leadership from what I understand after doing some research is a word that describe how much a leader understand his/her team and be able to attract the team to keep their eyes on their tasks. He sets direction, builds an inspiring vision, and creates something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to "win" as a team. Leadership is dynamic, vibrant, and inspiring.…
