Accounting today is much more complex and difficult to understand than it has been in the past. Due to the increasing complexity Accounting Information Systems have been created to alleviate some of the pressures facing accountants. According to Frederick Jones and Dasaratha Rama (2006), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are moving businesses from the functional approach to an integrated approach for managing transactions (p.684). Having knowledge and experience with the technological advances will help the accountant become more successful. Companies, such as CBU from the case study, must be able to effectively use technology to their advantage if they want to be successful in the future. The accounting staff of CBU must be able to develop more timely and effective system controls for future financial statement purposes and inventory audits.…
Mark is a 10 grade student with cerebral palsy after a head injury when he was an infant. He struggles with lack of muscle control, walking, writing, bad vision, hearing and difficulty talking. He has good friends in the class that share the same hobby over computer games. He is a very good student in all areas especially math but struggles with writing and speaking. He helps the school with computer software because of his work with his friends with computers. It is very hard for him to write because of his lack of muscle control and he struggles greatly with talking. His reading is slow but that is because his vision is poor because he his reading comprehension is at the top of the class. He is one of the smartest kids in the class and wants to go to college to develop software for computers.…
Kalastaa Inc. have been in the local Finnish aquaculture industry for nearly fourteen years. They raise salmon and trout for local markets, and have recently negotiated a deal with a small fish processing plant that distributes under a major product label in Finland. Although they run a rather small operation, employing 16 people year-round, Kalastaa believes they are in a position to export some surplus and perhaps broker further deals with fish processing plants around the European Union. They do want to maintain ties with the local fresh fish markets, but sales have been steadily decreasing since the sudden influx of cheaper Scottish salmon on the market. They know their stock is of higher quality and could be exported abroad quite profitably. Kalastaa has contacted the government and enrolled in small business export initiatives. This has enabled the company to attend aquaculture conferences abroad and offered them the opportunity to network and make contact with DanskFisk, a Dutch importer.…
In taking the management role, I will find a way to create a strategy to maintain a nonunion employment situation. Some important facts about this case study is that Custom Conveyer Division employs about 120 production employees and 11 supervisor/management positions. The 120 production employees are split evenly between five semi-skilled job classifications. There are two other plants in Cumberland that hire employees with the same type of skills and start pay about $1 less an hour than CCD. There is room to expand the company but work has been steady lately, a layoff is possibly in two months if new orders aren’t received.…
After reading the case study I found that the state statute that used was the Texas Penal Code section 42.09(a)(3). This statute prohibits the desecration of a venerable object. For example the American Flag or any object that has significant meaning. The Judicial Branch of Government created the state statute, and that parties that were involved in this court case was Gregory Lee Johnson and the State of Texas. Besides the US Supreme Court the other three courts that were involved were as follows: Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Texas Court of Appeals Fifth District, Dallas County Criminal Court. The citation for the US Supreme Courts decision of the Texas statute is Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989). The effect that the US Supreme Court decision had on the Texas statute is that the court stated that Johnson's actions were protected by the First Amendment and that the state could not charge Johnson. The court also stated that statute did not meet the State's goals of protecting breaches of peace due to another Texas statute.…
One of the biggest problems today is misinformation. People pass judgments towards others without being properly informed and I think that it is extremely important for students to be exposed to all different cultures. Since I have done my student teaching in the last few years I actually was surprised at how much the students cultures were influenced by the assignments. Although the cultural teachings are not extremely expressed in the curriculum it is up to the teacher to fit it in to the lessons. I feel that at any time that a teacher can incorporate the student’s home lives and cultural practices they should. This helps not only the other students to gain knowledge about other student’s cultures and values, but it also helps the teachers to understand things that they may not know about.…
CIPI decided to implement the PAS project because of its inefficiencies in the current accounts payable process. This was due to the accounts payable process which was a part of the total quality management (TQM) set forth by CIPI. Their current accounts payable process was heavily dependent resulting in labor intensive work. This created an issue because the companies’ invoice was being paid late, far beyond after receiving products from CIPI’s vendors. This had a rippling effect on its vendors. The slow response to payment was a burden to vendors and contributed to cash flow problems or even bankruptcy for them.…
Ancillary services refer to the health care services provided exclusive of room and board. Supplies and laboratory tests provided under home care, audiology, durable medical equipment (DME), ambulatory surgical centers (ASC), home infusion, hospice care, skilled nursing facility (SNF), cardiac testing, mobile lithotripsy, fitness center, radiology, pulmonary testing, sleep centers, and kidney dialysis are examples of ancillary services. Without ancillary services doctors, dentists, and nurses will not be able to function effectively. (Gans, 2009)…
The key HR issue of this case is not having the policy written or clear. It is important make clear to everyone what the policies are and that they are applied consistently and fairly across the organization. Bruce was not clear on the proper rules of not being able to sell the company product outside. He thought what he was doing wasn’t any different than selling to family and friends, which the other co-worker were doing. HR needs to clearly state to all employees that company products are not for resale, but for employee use only.…
In 1995, a well known Hotel and Spa Resort in Izmir, Turkey started off as a family owned business and dramatically expanded 200% during a six-year period from 2000-2006. The responsibilities of purchasing services were handled directly by the related department receiving the services. Mr. and Mrs. Gunes, the owners of the hotel, decided to bring in a Purchasing Manager, Murat Var, to take over all the purchasing of services for the entire Hotel. Doing so centralized responsibilities and build strong customer-supplier relations and improved levels of customer service. The department managers felt this was a good decision, however they did have a few complaints and concerns. They felt purchasing personnel did not engage department heads in the source selection process and that sometimes that lead to wrong or bad selections.…

The tea market is dominated by five countries, Kenya, Sri Lanka, China, India and Indonesia, which export about 80% of the world tea. Apart from China, the rest mainly produce black tea. In 2004, the world’s net import of tea was 1.42 million tonnes, out of which 1.17 million tonnes (82%) was black tea (Anonymous, 2000-2003). In contrary, the growth rate in world black tea consumption was reduced to 2.2% during 1993-2003 (FAO, 2005).…
