I’m elated to take another course with you. It’s so funny that you are employed by McKesson as my employer receives an array of medical supplies and equipment from this company. The medical supplies and equipment help providers deliver exceptional patient care. However, there have been issues with cost of equipment not specifically with McKesson but in general. Most Medicaid and Medicare insurance providers refuse to reimburse providers for procedures. Medical providers now have to find ways to use this equipment, provide needed service to patients, with minimum insurance reimbursement. Every human resource department is vital to each organization. The policies set forth help the ongoing operations and expansion of the organization.…

Child A and his one older sister, Child B, all live at home with Mum and Dad. It was first noticed that Child A had additional needs when he started nursery, where he didn’t settle or mix with the other children. Child A was diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in 2011; he also experiences a lot of difficulties with anxiety. While there are some things that are known triggers for the anxiety, such as being touched, it is often not clear what has caused it. This means that some of Child A’s behaviour, actions and reactions can also be inconsistent and unpredictable. (Reference K2)…

The readers learn a lesson from Rob Hall’s actions. Rob Hall was the main guide for the Adventure Consultants, his company, during the Mount Everest expedition of spring 1996. Rob Hall wanted to get all of his clients to the summit of Everest safely, knowing and respecting Mt. Everest’s power and ability to be unpredictable. Due to this danger from the ability of nature, Hall planned out precautions in case anything went wrong. For example, he planned for other guides to carry oxygen partially up to the summit. Although, due to the severe conditions on Mt. Everest and the failure of Hall to fully plan his safety measures, Rob Hall never made it back to the camp alive. To conclude, even though Rob Hall once paid attention to the power of nature, he did not follow his plan through to taking many important precautions, resulting in his death.…
Bill Bryson and Katz do not conquer the entire Appalachian Trail, but more importantly, they are able to conquer and overcome personal flaws while trying to do so. Bryson and his friend, Katz set out for a journey, their main intentions being to complete the Appalachian trail, and reconnect with nature. Throughout their journey, Bryson and Katz experience grueling days of long hikes and stormy weather, sometimes reaching below zero. Even though this seems miserable, and at times it was, the challenges helped both men to better themselves. Katz and Bryson gained a sense of pride by experiencing a harsh and deep pain, when hiking for long hours each day. By the end of their journey, they had become much more “slender and fit”(274). Even though they didn’t reach the end of the trail, physical strength was something they were able to leave with, and feel proud of. Looking back on the hardship and adversity the men faced was a significant accomplishment in itself, knowing that they were able to push through it, no matter how difficult.…

Camping and being in the outdoors has been a significant part of my life for the last eight years. As a child, I never enjoyed it much. Three years ago, my family along with four other families decided to take a trip to Glacier National Park. The sky-piercing mountains and the beautiful lakes urged me to explore the outdoors more. From hiking through the mountainous trails to driving up the mountains through the Going-to-the-Sun road, I finally began to realize the relief and soothing sense that nature had to offer. Despite the love I finally found in the outdoors, I was never the dedicated and…
We were all geared up and ready to start our trail down the mountainous slopes. I tried to veer off from the group director to try to stand over the edge of a canyon but it was heavily fenced. The top part of the canyons were viewable but the wall did a great job of restricting the rest of the view. Anxiously, I was walked to the inside of the orientation building. There, the supervisors went over plenty…
At 1:15 a.m. I emerged from my tent with my boots laced, my ice-axe stowed, and my headlamp glowing. I was ready for this mountain, rearing to begin the ascent up its face. Before leaving base camp, my guide had a few words to share with the team. We gathered around him, and he began. “This will not be an easy climb,” he warned, “And not all of you will reach the summit. If you feel disoriented, I will send you down. If you are slowing, I will send you down. If you present a danger to yourself or to the team, I will send you down. If I tell you it is time, you will not object to my command. You will go down. Do you understand?” None of us had any intention of stopping. We spent weeks training for this climb and were certain that by midday we…
Other people, like Jason Clarke and Josh Brolin in the movie Everest, go on journeys knowing how dangerous they are but wanting to complete them for the rush and pride such journeys are capable of providing. These men faced the most severe conditions, from storms to avalanches, to the lack of oxygen at the summit of Mount Everest, only to accomplish their dreams. The adrenaline rush someone experiences during a journey makes it thrilling and allures…

Due to socially constructed gender roles, women are expected to care for others then themselves. Pursuing leisure or adventure recreation can be overwhelming due to the masculine expectations that society has places on recreational activities such as rafting, backpacking and climbing. These pursuits should be based on a woman's passion for the outdoors or desire to explore and not merely for wanting to be one of the guys (Wroblewski 5). The wilderness can offer a sense of belonging, community, and physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and personal growth that all deserve to enjoy (Wroblewski…
The outdoors has been an integral part of who I am, allowing me to connect deeply with my dad and to forge a new bond with my sister. Growing up with amazing access to the wilderness, I’ve been on countess hikes and climbs with my family and have found a sense of freedom, independence, and physical and inner strength in myself as I have made challenging ascents and endured conditions that have tested my mettle. I have spent much of my free time in high school working with POST 84 Outdoor Education, teaching others the wonders of the wilderness has helped me to fall in love with the outdoors even more. Yet on various college tours, asking admission staff about their school’s outdoor program has been my most dreaded question because all too often the response is a disappointing “Well, I think there are…
