Case Study Of Patient Discuses
The judgment that he receives from others is a multicultural consideration that I notice. Client discuses at length how the fact that he is trying to “do better” and become “productive” is hampered by the treatment he receives by those in the pharmacy. The last session client also mentioned that he is feeling “pressured” to taper off his medication and has been doing that the last few weeks. According to the client he has discussed tapering off with the prescribing doctor. When I asked about the reasoning behind tapering his medications he admits that some of it is due to the pressure he is feeling and that he does not want to be taking the amount of medication that he is. He also remarks on how expensive the medication is and he has to refill
it every ten days because he cannot afford a full month’s prescription.
Client’s socioeconomic status (SES) is another multicultural factor that I take into consideration. Client is without insurance and has communicated to me during sessions about the stress of not having insurance and worries of money. He made an interesting comment during one of our sessions where he stated that the only reason he was able to afford to start the substance abuse program at the site was because he had money from selling drugs.
