The original strategy of DDD Smartphone DDD Smartphone began the simulation with the strategy of being the most profitable smartphone company within the SP1 GBA 498 term. In order to achieve that, we needed to create a price point for the android phone that was competitive but high enough to generate the proper income without leaving us with inventory from the prior decision period. Due to missing the first decision period it was crucial that we make the time up, so we decided to expand into both Mexico and Canada while selling domestically as well during that time. That worked well for us because we made a profit, earned an Ethic Achievement award as well as jumped us up to 8th place.

Ending up in 23rd place leaves a lot of room for growth and if given a longer time period with: the information, experience and reports; DDD Smartphone could have corrected its path and gotten to a place of profitability. Two of the worst assumptions that the team made was:
• We adjusted our decisions based off of what other teams were doing in the preceding periods, thinking that they would continue to make the same choices and therefore the adjustments we made would cut into their clients’ loyalty and make our company attractive to them because they would be looking for a change.
• Thinking “The higher the cost the better quality the phone” would be considered and that we did not need to remain expanded in Canada and Mexico with strong advertising dollars.

Our understanding that gaining a strong foothold would help us to be able to maintain a good ranking and improve every week, helped to motivate the initial input choices. Our strategy was to balance the price of the product while continuing to increase profit. Our goal was to put out a quality product that was affordable for everyone. The main focus of the product was to increase the speed and capability as well as extending battery life, two of the most important features to our customers.
