1. Some Various forms of power include coercive, compliance gaining, expert, and reward power (Interpersonal Communication: Relating to others pg. 229-230). The kind of power that Coach Johnson has on his team very to comply with coach Johnson’s goals like going to the championships.
2. The turning point was when Gilbert decided to go talk to Coach Johnson because from there and on Coach Johnson yelled at gilbert had a bad conversation. Yes I think it was the same turning point for Coach Johnson because he felt more frustrated because he does not like people telling how to run things. If one has a positive turning point and the other has a negative, the person with the positive turning point might be calmer and actually talk things out.
3. The turmoil stage, the conflict was increase and unclear relationship happened when Gilbert approach the Coach. The stagnation stage, communication declined and both took each other for granted because they were mad at each other, Gilbert because he wanted more playing time and Coach Johnson because he doesn’t like people telling him how to run things. The de-intensification stage, decreased interaction and distance both were to mad at each other that they didn’t want to talk. The individualization stage, when both are more individual than being more of a team. The separation stage, when they try to eliminate further communication between them, this is when Coach Johnson decides to put James over Gilbert. The final stage is post-interaction stage, this happened when gilbert wants to quit the team and go his separate way. (Interpersonal Communication: Relating to others pg. 263-265)
4. Social exchange theory is an economic model of human behavior used to explain how people arrive at decisions, posits that people seek the greatest amount of reward with the least amount of cost (Interpersonal Communication: Relating to others pg.267). Well the cost would be the relationship and the rewards would be the rewards you are gaining

    Like many IT staff faced with exponential storage growth, Norman Owens realized a few years back that his company was headed for a challenge if it did not start consolidating its storage resources onto a storage area network (SAN). Owens, a storage network engineer and consultant with Carlson Companies, spoke to an audience of his peers at Storage Decisions 2003 recently about his company 's consolidation efforts. (While not necessarily a household name, Carlson Companies is an international presence behind such well-known retail and hotel chains as TGI Friday 's and Radisson hotels and resorts. Before consolidating onto a SAN, Owens ' shared services group supported a configuration with one mainframe and 26 servers, where most of the servers were hard at work supporting the company 's Oracle Financials database under HP/UX. This arrangement handled 14TB of data, over 54 SCSI and 8 ESCON connections. "It looked like a point-to-point SCSI solution," Owens said, noting, "There were a whole lot of cables." When they needed more storage, "We 'd just go buy another frame. After the company asked his group to take on more responsibilities for its global IT storage operations, Owens and his coworkers decided now was the time to look at a more consolidated approach. Enter the company 's current storage over IP "fan-out" infrastructure, with Nishan Systems ' switches and a core/edge design that Owens affectionately calls "the funnel." Commenting on their decision to move into IP-based solutions, Owens said that the ability to connect remote sites was something "we had to do, or else our storage wouldn 't have been approved."     Finding of Fact #1: The main issue the company needs to address would be the lack of communication throughout the workplace. When Dr. Jerrold hired Simon Fester no handoff ever took place for the new employee, Simon and Simon’s new supervisor, Bob. Simon was given instructions that Bob Knowlton would be in the lab. When Simon arrived in the lab he discussed that Dr. Gerald had told him about the current research as well as Bob; however, he did not give Bob the same considerations with an overview of Simon’s background. When Simon arrived for the first time inside the lab, Bob was not sure who Simon was. The first conversation that took place between Dr. Jerrold and Bob concerning Simon was the next morning when Bob was informed that Simon would be working in the lab with Dr. Jerrold. Simon never conversed with any of the other coworkers about his findings until after he’d figured out the issue. The final communication failure was when Bob finally decided to leave the lab. Bob sent a personal letter to Dr. Jerrold’s home explaining that he would be leaving the company. Bob did not fully address the issues that he had with Simon.
