Cask Of Amontillado Irony
The theme of The Cask of Amontillado is revenge. Fortunato insults Montresor causing him to become angry. Montresor then plans his plot of revenge to get back at Fortunato. The theme of The Cask of Amontillado is revenge because Montresor gets back at Fortunato. In the beginning of the story, Montresor, accidently bumps into Fortunato. This was a part of Montresor's plan. Montresor the lures Fortunato in his plan of revenge.
The title of “The Cask of Amontillado”, is situational irony. The word cask, meaning barrel, also means a casket. Montresor gets his revenge by walling up Fortunato alive. The work cask, is said to mean a barrel of wine, which is what Montresor said to lead Fortunato with. But in the end, Fortunato got no wine but instead,
