Imagine a world where your future is planned out for you. Where the government controls the majority of your life. For Cassia that is what life is like. For someone who lives in a world like that they should seem pretty different compared to us and they are. However, you can almost always find a comparison between people no matter where or how they live. Cassia Reyes and her family live in the Oria Province. The world was supposed to have changed for the better. At the start of their society they have selected 100 songs, 100 paintings, and 100 poems from the past to be saved. No more songs or poems are allowed to be created anymore. Everyone is required to carry compacts with three pills around them once they reach a certain age. Some people that I know have to carry around pills or other medicines but not every single person. One last difference is the Official’s choose who you should marry. However, I did manage to relate to Cassia. Both of us try to protect our little brother’s. She feels protective over Bram because he is labeled a troublemaker and I feel protective over Carson because he is autistic and still can’t do a lot for himself. One of Cassia’s best friends is named Xander who she has been best friends with since Elementary. I have had a best friend named Reece since elementary as well. Xander and Reece are both very smart and they always seem to be there for their friends. Cassia and I are even similar in looks. The book stated that she has brown hair and green eyes. Her hair has a copper tint to it though while mine has some blonde. One of the last things I noticed was that we both see things within our society that we think could be bettered.
