Some really wanted to jump over the side of the ship because they felt so bad. This could have been a big problem because we needed as many soldiers as we could get and with soldiers jumping overboard into the harsh waves along with the weather we would lose many soldiers. Normally this would be a complication, but it turned out that on the original beach, the Nazis were prepared. Many soldiers were off target and landed at least a mile off course, which was a problem because they were supposed to find each other. D-Day had to happen because, frankly, we were nearly losing the war and the battle took two years to plan! Hitler thought that the perfect race was blue eyes and blonde hair, but on D-Day we crushed that idea. We made the Nazis surrender on the beaches and freed France. There also was the "Atlantic Wall" which had barbed wire fences and obstacles in the oceans to rip off the bottom of ships. There were mines too that killed soldiers and exploded ships. Although the battle was a success, there were many fallen soldiers. Many families lost their loved ones and soldiers had to see their friends
