Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were responsible for the 13 deaths during the Columbine Shooting on April 20, 1999. The main difference between Harris and Klebolds plan and Cho’s attacks were Harris and Klebold left documentation of their plans. They made many blogs on how to make home-made explosives, made videos documenting explosives, ammunition, and weapons that they had obtained illegally. They kept journals of their progress and who they wanted to get revenge on. They even narrowed down the dates of when they planned the shooting to April 19th, the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, and April 20th, the 110th anniversary of Adolf Hitler’s birthday. They killed 13 people plus themselves over a one hour time period. This first red flag went up when they got caught stealing computer equipment and during the court hearing the judge decided that both boys needed psychiatric help. Harris was later put on an anit-depressant call Zoloft. Researchers now say this medication might have caused the different thoughts of suicide and the rage he felt inside. Some psychologists also say after being arrested it pushed them over the edge.…

The policemen had started shooting through the windows, and they fired back. This continued for a few minutes, before the boys stopped and left the library. They wandered around, setting off more bombs, and eventually went back to the cafeteria. Eric tried to shoot one of the bombs that they had planted, trying to make it explode. Yet again, it failed. However, he lit up a Molotov Cocktail and threw it at the bomb. This caused a small fire to break out but the fire sprinklers put it out. The boys then returned to the library. They did not shoot anymore students, though they had fired more shots at the officers outside. At 12:08 PM, Eric and Dylan both committed suicide, shooting themselves through the roof of the mouth and left temple respectively (Columbine High School massacre, n.d.). Just after school began on a Friday morning in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, Adam Lanza opened fire in the main office of Sandy Hook Elementary. What followed was the mass murder of 20 students and 6 staff members (Stroller, Strauss & Stanglin, 2012). A mass murder is defined as “single episodic act of violence, occurring at one time and in one place…where three or more people are killed with no cooling off period between killings” (Kitaeff, 2011, p. 81-82). Investigators estimate that from the time Lanza began shooting until he turned the gun on himself was less than five minutes. Lanza, 20 years old, then turned the gun on himself, he was found dead inside the school. In all, he fired from three weapons, Glock and Sig Sauer pistols as well as an AR-15, military style rifle. Police reported that Lanza first shot his mother in the forehead then drove her car to the school and began firing (Stroller et al, 2012).…

From his house, Adam grabbed three guns; a semi-automatic AR-15 assault rifle made by Bushmaster and pistols made by Glock and Sig Sauer. He continued to go to the elementary school wearing black clothes and a military vest. Approximately 700 students were present on December 14, 2012 and classes were scheduled as normal. As Adam tried to get into the school, the doors were locked. Earlier this year, the school principal, Dawn Hochsprung, ordered a new security system installed that required visitors to be visibly identified and buzzed in. As part of the security system, the school locked its doors each day at 9:30 a.m after the main rush of students and parents arrive to the school. It was April 20th, 1999 when, interestingly enough, on the birthday of Adolf Hitler, two students of Columbine High School, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, decided to get back at all of society for the few who had teased and bullied them. By using guns, a fire bomb, propane tanks converted to bombs, 99 explosive devices, and bombs rigged in cars, they hoped that their actions would rival the Oklahoma City bombing. Luckily, not all the bombs detonated. Yet, using mainly their guns, the aftermath of the deadly suicide massacre left 15 dead and 24 injured.…
