The welfare benefits are still a federal entitlement for families as long as needed. As of recently there are 24 states that have imposed the 60 month time limit that will terminate benefits. There are nineteen other states including Florida that are imposing shorter time limits then 60 months. There have been discoveries that California and New York have extended the sixty month time limit. There are an estimated 19 million families receiving the welfare benefits 52% in which were subject to the time limit 44% were exempt from the time limit. There are families who are upset with the time limit . They cannot afford to buy food to feed their families. People cannot afford to get medical insurance to take care of their sick children. The minorities are at 30 % as of recently. The families that have no benefits at all have no jobs and no income. The time limit is in effect for Pennsylvania residence. The law in Pennsylvania is 24 months. But they do offer training for families in need. There have been many families moving from areas to find cheaper living, and better jobs. With the economy in debt these families are discovering there are no other benefits to help them. Families are using drastic measures to survive on a daily basis. When Interviewing the DPW in my area. They informed me that the benefits are limited to families on disability. They also tell me that the funds are drastically low and within the next couple years there will be no more benefits. Where will the economy go from here? There are people asking so many questions with no approximate answers to give them. Families all across the United States are feeling the effect. People are starving, are homeless, and jobless. We as a country cannot blame the Spanish speaking people for the downfall of the benefits. What will happen when all benefits are no more? How will society live and survive?
