“Ohio has the 26th highest obesity rate in the nation” (cite this). Yes, you have read that correctly Ohio is ranked 26th in the nation. A big factor in the cause of obesity is eating processed foods. Many people don’t realize what they are actually eating, or the health risks involved in eating the foods that claim to be all natural. There are many health risks involved when eating processed food and awareness of obesity, heart problems and risks of cancer will help make people more proactive by learning.
What are processed foods exactly? When thinking of processed foods the things that come to mind are soft drinks, fast food restaurants, candies, and potato chips. Yes, processed foods are all those things, but processed food are also

Nutritionists have been relating the increase of obesity to the amount of added sugars people eat on daily basis. In the study they had performed more than 90% of the amount of added sugar people had eaten in a day was all from processed foods they had recently eaten. When people limited the amount of processed foods they were eating they actually were consuming the healthy amount of sugar you’re suppose to eat in a day's worth. (CITATION CRISTINA). In another study, they found almost 60% of American’s daily calories come from over processed foods. (Citation ABIGAIL). American’s consume 60% worth of processed foods every single day without realizing the effects it is having on their bodies. Obesity is a very dangerous, and serious problem to have. Not only are you obese, but you are at higher risks for other diseases. According to Ohio’s obesity data, projected heart diseases caused from obesity in 2030 is over 3 million. In addition, the projected cancer cases in 2030 stemming from obesity is more the 400,000. The amount of health risks obesity causes it outrageous, and frightening. Being obese will not only cause you to have to pay a lot of money for medical bills, it will also lead you closer to death than usual. Limiting the amount of Obesity in Ohio by 3% each year, would cause the obesity rate in Ohio to be less than 10% by year 2023. The only way Ohio’s obesity rates would continually drop 3% each year would be if the state of Ohio became more intentional about teaching citizens the fatal risks of eating processed foods. Doctors offices should be required to hand out information to parents about processed foods, to make them more aware of what dangerous ingredients are going into their child's body. If they inform the parents while the child is young, the child will more likely live a healthier life. This will help control the obesity rates in future generations. The

Fast food, while a major contributor, but it is not the only cause of the obesity epidemic in America. "The beauty is we don't need to be 100% of the way there. If we get 20% of the way there, we will change the health status of our kids for a generation.” These were Michelle Obama’s words assuring Americans that with government involvement, change is possible. According to the National Institute of Health, obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States. Currently, nearly two-thirds of Americans are overweight and 34% of those are obese. Furthermore, a recent article published by the Institute of Medicine has shown that our eating habits are greatly affected by our environment, and in order to reverse this crisis, all levels of society will need to make a change- especially our government. By origin, a government’s innate duty is to ensure the wellbeing of its people, which in this case certainly includes our health through our diets. Moreover, they have incredibly influential access (or even complete control) over critical aspects of our diet. The government’s power over our diets already feeds into schools, food subsidies, and infrastructure, so their influence must begin to feed us in a way that is beneficial.…

America’s obesity can be an argument that has many sides to it. The one that is the most straightforward and logical is that us as americans are bringing this upon ourselves. We know the kinds of foods that are good and healthy along with the foods that are bad, fattening, and unhealthy. We try to blame fast food restaurants and grocery stores for serving us foods that are unhealthy. In reality, we know. We try to blame those companies because we don’t want to blame ourselves. As much as we are told what is good and bad for our bodies, we tend to ignore that and keep eating those unhealthy products. America is blaming the fast food industry for obesity, when in reality, it comes down…

For many years, America has been considered an obese nation. Efforts to lower the obesity level have been made such as increasing pay on unhealthy foods and decreasing serving sizes nationwide. In a world where “obesity has increased by more than 50% among America’s children and teens since 1976,” rather than drastically change what is being eaten, children should be encouraged to…

In the United States today, obesity has become an enormous problem. In the last 3decades, the number of people overweight has increased dramatically. A study done by theCenters of Disease Control showed that since 1980, one third of our adult population has becomeoverweight. America is the richest but also the fattest nation in the world, and our obese backsides are the butt of jokes in every other country (Klein 28). The 1980s were a time whenAmericans suddenly started going crazy over dieting, jumping onto the treadmills, and buying prepackaged non-fat foods. However, while all of that was going on, the number of obeseAmericans began to increase. According to a report in the Journal of the American MedicalAssociation, 58 million people in our country weigh over 20 percent of their body’s ideal weight. The article “Fat Times” states, “If this were about tuberculosis, it would be called an epidemic”(Elmer-Dewit 58). The eating habits of society have steadily become more harmful and havestarted to produce gluttonous children, over-indulgent adults, and a food industry set too muchon satisfying our appetites.Obesity can begin at a very young age. Many children in our society are overweight, setting themselves up for serious health problems later in life. Type 2 diabetes, high bloodcholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart problems are just some of the risks. Children who areoverweight also tend to feel less secure, less happy, and be stressed more than normal weight…

Obesity is growing vast in America because almost three quarters of Americans are obese. The numbers have continually grown when the start of “fast food” became faster and less expensive. Our food has evolved so much over the years by using generally modified organisms (GMO), Tran’s fat, lard, and fake ingredients. Obesity has become a wide-spread epidemic in America and therefore has killed Americans, made many others disabled, caused many different heart problems, and diabetes. Obesity is bad and needs to be controlled throughout the United States.…

Throughout everyone’s existence regardless of the number of times, society has always faced some type of issue. Whether it’s big or small, personal or global, everyone constantly comes across obstacles throughout time. In today’s world we are continuously facing many issues, some with easy solutions others hard to solve. Global warming, governmental spending, health problems, etc are just some of the few types of issues we are facing in today’s society. In my opinion I believe that one of the many difficult problems that we are now encountering is the rapid increase rate of obesity. Now a day the intake of fatty foods and high calories by American citizens is spinning out of control. People are not being cautious of what they eat therefore the rate of their health is on a rise for the worst. Obesity is not a stranger in the USA; however by the rate the consumption is being done, it’s not only becoming a major problem but more like a problem without a steady solution.…

Many have a bad tendency of consuming unhealthy food rather than eat something that will benefit them. Many say it’s because “unhealthy” food is more conventional than eating “healthy” food. According to the Los Angeles Times, when one is going to work or simply heading to school one finds it easy to just stop by at a liquor store and buy a snickers and a fountain drink (2001). The food that is easily accessible when entering such stores is always junk food rather than having fruits. This has caused many problems, and one of the major one is obesity. Obesity is a sickness that occurs when an individual passes a certain weight ratio for their body. For some, being 250 pounds would be normal but…
