Causes of Baby-Dumping in Namibia
There has been a continuous increase on baby dumping within Namibia. Recently, every month a case of a baby being dumped it is reported by Media. Baby dumping simply means the act leaving away the baby at any place without taking care of the baby. There are numerous causes associated with baby dumping but in this essay the main focus will be on social causes.
Sexual Abuse
Firstly, Sexual abuse is one of the most significant reasons for baby dumping. In most cases boys disappear after satisfying their sexual desires without leaving a trace; girls will then end up dumping their babies frequently because they felt betrayed. Furthermore, pregnant women are often rejected by their boyfriend who may even deny being in any relationship with the women, so the women may possibly dump the baby because she fears that she will be unable to support the baby alone (Siraj, 2010).
Lack of sexual Education
Secondly, Teenagers are not exposed to sexual education. Parents feel shy and uncomfortable to talk about sex with their children as they think that their children will understand everything about sex naturally as they grow (Amukwaya, 2011). Moreover, sex education is advisable to be included in education system in order to enable the youth to have more information about sex education.
No Parental control
Finally, The fact that there is no parental control on teenager's life it is also a major cause of baby dumping. Some teenagers live far away from their parents for further studies and thus there is nobody to control their activities. Parents are too busy with their job to have more income in their life, so they do not have enough time to look after their children. In addition parents expect
