The Vietnam War took a lot from the United States including human life, money, and supplies. Thousands of lives were lost. Some countries think we don’t feel loss because we are so strong, but we feel loss just like any other. Resources are vital to wars and so is manpower. Lives shouldn’t of been thrown away carelessly. It cost more than it should've ever had over a useless war. The loss of life was ridiculous over fifty eight thousand United States soldiers died in the Vietnam War. Many of the soldiers that died were drafted by the government. These soldiers sacrificed everything over a war that wasn’t even for our own country. It cost millions of lives and billions of dollars. Supplies were sent over daily. People lost their lives, friends, brothers, and husbands. Some people went hungry because the raise of food cost. Money that was collected from taxes were spent on military weapons and personnel.
During the Vietnam War, the U.S. was economically down and the people hated it. Everybody was wondering why we were over there. There were many questions for the President that people started standing outside of the White House and were protesting. This ended up being very serious. Many people were getting violent and in 1971 “the movement” happened. The movement was a very large group of people that wasn’t going to stand there and say some stuff, they were going to take action and do something about this.
When tet offensive was launched it sent a waves of shock and discontent to the homes of many Americans. There was a poll taken to see how many people liked his plan. Only 35% approved of Johnson’s plan, a full 50% disapproved. In New Hampshire most of the voters rallied behind the anti-war protest. 10,000 anti-war protesters showed up at the convention building. When Nixon became president he promised to restore “law and order” which is a reference that means he will stop all of the protesting and
