The economic basis is one of the most important factors that makes people willing to immigrate to the States. This country is the industrialized leader, it has a lot of open job opportunities, not only for locals but also for foreigners. The economic situation is completely
different in third world countries, where citizens have just few employment opportunities such as in India, Mexico, and Kazakhstan. For example, hotel and restaurant businesses are very developed in Virginia Beach, and employers prefer to hire cheap and replaceable labor. They put the hire brochures on each corner. Most of this labor is immigrants that are very flexible in the work process, and who are hard workers. Also, the immigration work law is more elaborate than in other countries, which allows foreigners to work and earn real money. To compare, there are only two types of working visas in Belgium and more than eleven different types of working visas in the U.S.A. This fact confirms the fact that people who would like to move to another country would prefer to go to The States rather than to others.
The second reason is to find religious freedom. There are more than 15 different religions in The U.S. due to having a variety of cultures from the whole world. This country is a place where everyone can believe in what they want to believe, and where all religious groups live together. As a result, people who could not find understanding in their preferences of religion and who are not accepted to follow their beliefs, want to immigrate to the U.S., where religious tolerance is a growing social movement.
The third reason that can motivate people to move is a chance to get the greatest education. It is not a secret that this country provides the highest level of education in the world and has the top colleges and universities. Young people who want to build their careers would love to get a diploma in the States because it is very prestigious and valued everywhere. Last of all, almost every student knows that it is great to become a member of a student exchange program due to opportunities, such as improving English, learning a new culture and discovering a new world.
To conclude, people have a variety of reasons to find their own place under the American sun since this country gives them a chance to get meaningful employment, to find religious freedom, and get a better education. Once, Adlai E. Stevenson said “America is much more than a geographical fact. It is a political and moral fact – the first community in which men set out in principle to institutionalize freedom, responsible government, and human equality.”
