This painting depicts skeletons murdering hundreds of people, with no regard to who they are, rich, poor, children, the old, even emaciated animals can be spotted lying dead throughout the painting. This painting is a tribute, one could say, to the Black Death. The Black Death is a well known plague that struck Europe hard in 1347 to about 1353.
