Pieter Bruegel's Accomplishments

The Renaissance was an important time in history. It marked a period of rebirth which is also what renaissance literally means.It marked all kinds of changes in hisory including, exploration and scholarly values. Many things occurred during this period, many painters sculptors, and other artists flourished.Trading grew and we even changed our system for astronomy.Many inventions also surfaced during this time, some of them led to what we use today. There was a surge of art during this time period, which led to many sculptures and paintings we still know and talk about today. There were many important artists in the Renaissance period, but Pieter Bruegel the Elder was particularly important. Pieter Bruegel was born in 1525 in the Netherlands. He had a son named Jan Brueghel the Elder and a son named Pieter Brueghel the Younger.He died on September 9, 1569. He married his mentor’s daughter Mayken in 1563.
Jesus had told his followers that it was not necessary to wash hands before a meal. The scribes and Pharisees who heard about it were outraged. This was because it was a breach of the Jewish law. When the followers of Jesus told him this he was unconcerned. He said that the Pharisees were the blind leading the blind. What Bruegel does is paint a picture of the blind literally leading the blind. He also depicted his figures in different states of falling, which was a challenge to work into a painting. The characters depicted have different expressions ranging from trust to shock, even surprise. Furthermore he depicts them as being lead away from a church, which is essentially stating that you shouldn’t follow something that leads you away from the church.Bruegel also is known to have studied the topics he intends to use for paintings to a great length.
