By moving slowly or not at all predators don't notice them and can't find them. The two different types of sloths are the two toed sloth and the three toed sloth. The two toed sloth has brown fur and a pink pig snout. The three toed sloth has gray fur a white face and black fur around the eyes. The sloth is a creature unlike any other and are very interesting.…

Sloths are cool and interesting animals. They are excellent climbers; in fact, they learn to climb from their parents. they also learn what food to eat by watching their mother eat. Sloths don’t really learn anything (except climbing and what to eat) from their parents because they, well, don’t really do anything. Pretty much all sloths do is eat, sleep, and hang upside down.…

Divided into four sectors, galleries and halls are lined with stalactites, stalagmites and helicities, the latter of whimsical horizontal forms. Designed by nature and by man baptized, tunnel of love are, the chapel of the 12 apostles, the Devil's Throat, the passage of rain, the Salon de las Nieves and San Pedro temples and Gothic. In the Gothic hall, it has given name to some of the formations; among other is The Garden of carrots, Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, and the famous Doña Mamerta Manto de Colón. But the Bellamar Caves are not only this room, the cavity extends east and west achieving a length exceeding three kilometers long; and it is known to be much larger, with even completely flooded chambers. Other cavities are the Hall of Dos Lagos, the Hall of the Sponges, Dwarf Gallery and the Gallery of Megalocnus east of the Gothic Hall. In the other direction are the passage of Hatuey, the Ladies Room, Lake Dahlias and Bath American. On the latter there is a legend that an American vacationer, many years ago, was lost in that place, when he decided to refresh your body in the clear and cold waters. “They also highlight the Hall of the sponges, a gallery located 25 meters below the Gothic Hall” (Cuba Family).According to scientists is one cave with several rooms, but the custom is in the plural. "No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its avatar and its seal- the redness and the horror of blood" (1). Edgar Allan Poe was a master of the macabre; his very stories injecting fear into the hearts of his readers. Poe's life was filled with tragedy, as several of the important women in his life, including his wife and daughter died at a young age. He utilized poems and books to express that tragedy. The short stories, "The Black Cat," and, "The Masque of the Red Death," both written by Poe, enhance the theme of fear. "The Black Cat," was about a narrator who had gone crazy and was so overcome by guilt that he went to extreme measures including…
Over the years, conversations of the topics of Plato’s writings arise. The teachings from Socrates of the “Parable of the Sun, Myth of the Cave and Divided Line” have become very popular to the world. So popular that it has an impact on the movie industry, the stories are hidden in some movies. More movies depict the stories” The Divided Line and The Myth of the Cave “ rather than “The Parable of the Sun.” The movie, eXistenZ, is an example of “The Myth of the Cave and The Divided Line”, since the stories are very similar. The movie has many similarities to “The Myth of the Cave”, but can correlate better to “The Divided Line” for more structure.…
Jean Auel attempts to paint a picture of what the world might have been like during the ice aged period some forty millennia ago. Using information gathered by the science of her time and filling in gaps with a bit of creative writing, she tells the story of a clan of Neanderthals who worship bear spirits. Unfortunately and probably unknowingly to her, most of her story would have had to be written differently in order to be more anthropologically accurate.…
“The Republic”, Plato’s longest work, has many views about philosophy and characters within and there is one character that truly stands out and entices you to read on until the very end; that was Socrates. Socrates was a mentor and a friend of Plato’s and in Plato’s eyes, he was a great and wise Philosopher that was a martyr for philosophy. Within “The Republic”, Plato has written a symbolic account about one of Socrates’ teachings of education or the enlightenment of the mind and soul; “The Allegory of the Cave”. In this, Socrates describes how education is important so that the mind and soul are enlightened and not forever dwelling within the shadows.…
When discussing “Allegory of the Cave” it is important to know what it is all about and it why it took place. Prisoners are chained and can only see darkness. They are facing a black wall and are projected to figure out what is real in life and what is not. They are not able to turn their heads. Plato wanted the people be aware of what is going on around them. There are puppets that are behind the walls that are showing shadows. The prisoners can only see the shadows and not the real objects. The can also hear the echoes, but nothing else. The prisoners would mistake appearance for reality. What this really means is no matter what was really behind the wall and was showing shadows the prisoners would still try to figure out what they perceive is casting the shadow. Plato was trying to make the point that it is not the names of the things we see, but what we grasp with our minds and perceive it to be. We watched their responses and reactions to the illusions and again when they were freed to experience real life again. When the prisoners are released they can see what the real objects were. This is wear reflective understanding is interpreted. Concepts that we grasp are not the real objects that we perceive.…
Just like anybody would be a bit confused by such a heading. Well what I am referring to is that cats simply love catnip or as it is also known, catmint. When cats have some of this they tend to get a bit tipsy and start acting silly. You also have to be careful because just like with people there is the aggressive drunk and in the cat world the aggressive cat once they have partaken of their cocktail. What is most interesting is that the catnip plant has been around for ages. Catnip can be purchased fresh or dried and as seeds and seedlings. It can be grown indoors or out, however if you should choose to grow it in your garden make sure that your cat or cats are the only ones who have access to the catnip otherwise you just might find yourself the referee of one of the biggest cat fights in history.…
Luray Caverns, discovered in 1878, is a popular tourist attraction because of its beautiful rock formations, and how it is home to the largest instrument in the world, the Great Stalacpipe Organ. Andrew J. Campbell and his companions first found the caves in a limestone belt under Shenandoah Valley, around the west side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The caverns have ceilings ranging from 30 to 140 feet tall, and has two bodies of water, Dream Lake and Silver Sea. The caverns were formed over millions of years by underground rivers and acidic water seeping through limestone and clay, and dripping limewater created beautiful stalactites. Although the story of Luray Caverns may not seem all that interesting, it’s pretty amazing how just acidic…
“The Foundation and Manifesto of Futurism” written by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti highlights the main ideas behind the futurist movement that he introduced himself. In the beginning of the manifesto, Marinetti and his friends are awake at a late hour of the night and they hear the sound of automobiles pass by. Marinetti encourages everyone to test this new magnificent machine even though there was a sense of mystery and risk about it. Marinetti explains how they were so overcome by the madness and the amazement that they were incoherent to the dangers around them and only focused on breaking free. Marinetti describes how his car crashes into a ditch, but he brings it back to life and it is soon roaring again. He then presents his manifesto for all living men. He challenges the people of Italy to continue to strive for the future and to not look back on the past.…
“Plato’s Allegory of the Cave” was the philosophical story of people who lived in this cave, and never left. They were bound to one spot, and could never move. The only light was this fire in the middle of the cave, that was on the other side of a wall that separated the fire from the cave dwellers. There were also other people who carried objects above their heads on the fire side of the wall. This made shadows on the actual cave walls, which were the only things that the bound people knew to be true. One day one of the dwellers got to be freed from his position and was about to make discoveries of a new world.…
Most of us think that cats are allergic to water, but in reality, it's not true. Not all cats feel the same about water. There are different categories, some may enjoy, some may not. The Partial cases are different. Despite not enjoying a full immersion, many house cats are fascinated by water, dipping an exploring paw into the water bowl to scatter a few drops or running into the bathroom at the sound of a shower. While some of them like Lily(my cat) gets delighted to get wet. She'll go inside, play nicely and won't come out till I pull her out.…
