To some, Luray Caverns may just seem like a normal cave system, but it definitely isn’t - it has to be pretty special to be the most visited caves in the entire Eastern U.S. The caverns are a big part of the lives of the people in the community surrounding it, since all the tourists going there gives the local economy a huge boost. Also, it is home to the Great Stalacpipe Organ, designed by Leland Sprinkle, a mathematician and engineer who spent three years building it, as it was very hard to find exactly which stalactites would produce the right tone. However, the resulting instrument produced mysterious, hauntingly beautiful music. The caverns are a great place to visit, and all kinds of people can take a trip there to enjoy the underground beauty and experience educational opportunities.
