CCE system a bane or a boon
A few years back students struggled with the vast syllabus, and the pressure of doing their best in the annual exams. But, now with the new CCE system the portions of the syllabus have been greatly reduced. I am sure this is going to help the students reduce their stress. “I need to score well!” and “I’ve got tough competition!” are thoughts of by gone days. The students have started to take studies lightly.
The C.C.E. pattern has changed the mindset of the students. Now all the class tests play a great role in determining the marks of students. We students, learn the whole book by-heart, and then puke it out in the examinations. We don’t know that the values are useful, not only for examinations, but also for our day-to-day lives.
The pattern aims at making the students confident and bold. This, I feel, is doing a great job. The seminars, speeches, mono acting and skits that are conducted in classes make us lose our stage fear. There are many projects, model, charts, book reviews that gives us the opportunity to show off our creativity. Like the proverb says “Bloom where you are planted!” But, the question remains is the CCE system what students of India require? Is the government's new move to make education more meaningful and less academics-oriented adding to the burden of the already stressed child? With continuous class activities, projects, group projects, etc. the focus of students is being diverted from the main focus of education to other things. Students who are not very good e.g. in drawing loose marks in a drawing activity just because they are not good at it. The purpose of education no more remains the same as it was, instead of studying mathematics and science now we are made to do various activities throughout the year. The aim of education is no more the same. Hence the issue is to debate that whether we want students with complete bookish knowledge or students with half baked knowledge but all-rounder’s. Personally, I myself as a student

Let me start by quoting Rabindranath Tagore, “Don 't limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.” I can understand the concern regarding developmentally appropriate instruction, I feel I must explain my decision to continue on with this path. Teachers concerned about their test scores later can be assured that these students will be ready for the next school year. I believe that if we can reach students on a fundamental level it will be easier to give them the information needed to succeed.…

EDUC 1300 Final Exam Fall 2017 Napoleon Hills said, “Education comes from within; you get it by struggle and effort and thought”. The power of education is very high, and we need to reach it through our hard work and thought. Stress is one of the biggest problems facing contemporary students. More than half of students (53%) said they had become more stressed since starting university, according to the Student Living Report 2003, an ongoing survey of student experiences carried out by MORI for the UNITE Group plc. Medically, a little pressure can boost up students' enthusiasm of study. However, over stress, over work and taking too much stress of life might lead students to an extreme depressive state where a person in would even commit suicide. Stress is obviously a common and the biggest obstacle on students' road to success.…

Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation has its benefits. It has to be, however, said that CCE will not de-stress the children all by itself. Students are under stress due to the range of competition. Imagine a candidate appearing for IIT JEE during +2. He faces at least 7 lakh others across the country. Imagine what goes on in the family, forget the candidate! Every IIT graduate has a story to tell as to how many sacrifices the complete family makes for success at the exam! CCE has its benefits and can de-stress the students but in an autonomous organization with tight controls within the organization. For example, some engineering colleges at graduate level and almost all of them at post-graudate level use it to the maximum benefit of both students and professors. The system is a success at these places because of the autonomy. JNTU implemented CCE in engineering colleges affiliated to it. It had limited impact and yet, it couldn’t do away with the final exam. The final exam had to cover 80% of the total score. CCE makes sense when the number of…

Comprehensive continuous evaluation (CCE) is an educational evaluation style used in India for evaluating elementary and secondary school students. The assessment system is designed to replaced standardized board examination testing by evaluating students based on academic and personal progress from the start of their education to its completion, or kindergarten through high school graduation. Teachers evaluate scholastic performance, arts and sports involvement and personal and social development.…

    Cce Pattern

I want to know how CCE pattern is absorbed by schools, teachers, parents and students. On the surface, CCE looks lucrative with a scope to assess a child’s overall performance. But looking into the nitty-gritty, a child is made to work a lot, complete a lot of assignments, projects, concentrate on the extra-curricular activities, prepare for n number of tests – all at the same time. Would it make life easier for all of us if the assignments are planned in such a way that a child is required to submit for only one subject per day? And the way portions paper reaches the parents, it would be better if the assignment schedule also reaches well in advance. Too many tests with very less time for revision are adversely affecting the students. Teachers are left with no time to interact with the students but to deliver their syllabus in a mechanical manner. This is only a speck, there are more problems. Children who stay far away from the school are more taxed due to travel too. Ultimately, children don’t have time for anything, no play, no relaxation. Are we setting the trend right? There are n numbers of holiday homework. So the concept of holidays is getting eroded. Is this a good sign? Will we be able to create a young and healthy India? I request the teachers to discuss what is required from students to the level that how they should prepare for the tests and how they can score better. Rote learning does not help in CBSE. If a child has to apply, it should be given a scope of working and preparing. When all the time is gone for writing, how can that be achieved. I request a panel discussion on this and want many parents to participate and express their…
