Trying to hide children from certain parts of today’s culture really does nothing to help as they will lean later what one tried to avoid. Certain banned books can help one to “learn to function in a changing society” (What Banned Books Mean…).Many books are banned for homosexual or non-Christian topics despite America having the freedom of religion and the recent debate leading to legalization of same-sex marriage. In regards to development in children, reading certain banned books can help to “Encourage kids to ask questions” (What Banned Books Mean…).Encouraging children to ask questions can influence them to learn about the previously stated changing culture and possibly become more interested in learning. Certain images, news articles, books, and advertisements can negatively affect a child. A benefit of media censorship is that “It limits negative advertisements” (11 Pivotal Pros and Cons…).Children having access to inappropriate advertisements can give them awful ideas such as certain opinions on certain topics. Censorship can also “save the children from violence” (11 Pivotal Pros and Cons…) such as the protests in Ferguson, Missouri.Violence can be included with inappropriate advertisements or media. “Censoring extreme violent material is beneficial, particularly among children.
