In Jeff Nilsson’s article Why Americans Don’t trust the CIA he argues that many americans just do not trust the CIA, and all other intelligence agencies, for many reasons. One reason being “During the Civil War, for example, the Union army was continually misled by intelligence reports that often exaggerated the size of enemy forces by as much as 50 percent.” showing that intelligence agencies were way off calculating the size of the opposing forces. He argues this makes the intelligence very unreliable and untrustworthy, for exaggerating the size of a force by 50 percent is ridiculously off, and the false information will not help the force that it is given too in any way, it will just make them spend more money on machinery and war weapons…

Aldrich Ames was one of the biggest backstabbers in history. Ames turned his back to our country and because of him 24 Americans were shamelessly slaughtered in Russia. Aldrich had a way with words, and was an excellent reader. However, that doesn’t change the horrible things he did to this country. He was an embarrassment to the CIA and a traitor.…
Although the CIA was created in 1946 by President Truman for gathering intelligence during World War II, its purpose has endured for the past 67 years. Many human rights groups think that extraordinary rendition is as common as the morning post. This is not so: “Both the Congress and Executive branch oversee the CIA’s activities, which engages in covert action, only at the President’s discretion and direction” (Extraordinary rendition 2). The CIA only tracks and gathers information on U.S citizens if there is a legitimate reason to believe that the suspect is or possesses information sensitive to national security.…

“We seek to develop policies and arrangements to make the peace both permanent and just. This can be done only on the basis of comprehensive and appropriate information” (Dwight D. Eisenhower). As the other countries start to build intelligence agencies after the WWII, it becomes more important America do build its own intelligence agency. Thus in 1947, the Central Intelligence Agency was created. Ever since, there had been a debate among the people if it’s necessary for the CIA to exists. America needs the CIA to protect the nation from terrorism, avoid any conflict with other nations, and compete with other countries’ intelligence agency.…

The television show Criminal Minds is a brain teaser at times, because although the show is fiction, they make the shows based on things that seem so surreal. As I watch, I think that this could very easily happen, but not to the degree the make it of television viewing. The cast in this show are very similar to the police and detectives we have today, because of the diverse personalities.…

The world around us is going through an interesting time as terrorism and the Middle Eastern conflict continues to rule modern day world politics. The United States tends to police the world, as our country tends to use its strength as a world power to lend a helping hand to the other countries in world. The cold war was a big factor that lead to the ultimate fall of the Soviet Union and the United States played a role in that part of history and because of that you cannot blame Americans for having a negative view because at one point we were at war with the Soviet Union now Russia. The cold war can be seen as a big reason as to why…
