Cerealicious: A Passionate Undertaking
I. Company background

History

Cerealicious was born out of a group's hard work and collaboration. It is one constant evolution of creative ideas, thoughtful experiments and passionate undertakings.

It all began early 2005 when a group of friends decided to offer a new and exciting way of eating cereals outside of home. The group, consisting of college friends and officemates, saw that the market needed healthier food options that are delicious at the same time.

The group began conceptualizing the business identifying their target market, scouting for the ideal location, planning the store look, floor layout and design, logo and mascot, product offerings and witty names of their bestsellers. After a year of planning, the first Cerealicious outlet opened its doors on January 4, 2006 inside the University of Sto. Tomas compound. Its homey kitchen atmosphere attracted students who wanted to relax and feel happy amidst the daily stress in school.

Cerealicious soon gained a loyal following especially among the young people. After a few months, the business grew and expanded to three more locations, one along Taft Avenue (near De La Salle University), one in The Block, SM North, and another one inside La Salle Greenhills. In 2007, the group continued to expand in Mendiola, Morayta, Greenhills, Cebu, and inside campuses such as Ateneo de Manila University, Ateneo de Davao, and De La Salle Zobel.

The cereal aisle is located in the middle of the store and it consists of three fourths of the aisle on the right side. There are approximately forty-seven different brands of cereal such as Cookie Crisp, Rice Krispy’s, Cheerio’s, Fruit Loops, Honey Combs, Trix, Kix, Honey Bunches of Oats, Cocoa Puffs, Captain Crunch, Lucky Charms and several others.…

Target is running a 1-month exclusive with General Mills showcasing retro packaging around Cocoa Puffs, Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Trix, Kix and other brands within their cereal portfolio. A collectable t-shirt is promoted on the new retro-themed packaging, offering consumers the chance to get a vintage-styled tee of their favorite morning munch. Overall, its a smart play. Target gains exclusivity, consumers feel rewarded with a limited piece of throwback merch, and wearing the fashion creates conversations around the cereal brands and must-have appeal for young-ins. Food Memoir

I always love to cook and be creative while cooking; preparing different kind of dishes with different seasons, all natural most of the time. Cooking is not about following recipes and going by the cooking book. Instead it’s about being able to mix different seasonings to create the perfect taste. The history behind this invention comes from the lack of resources to prepare a decent dish. It was a quite night like tonight, listening to John Mayer and my roommate and I were really hungry. Then we looked at the refrigerator and cabinets to see what we could cook but we only found chicken, tomatoes, garlic, salt and pepper. Having all those seasons and been tired of eating grill chicken I decided to make it baked crunchy chicken, but sadly there wasn’t any ground bread and I figured it out late so the only thing that I could use was the cereal. So that is how it happened, a happy mistake. I used cornflakes instead of bread crumbs for the baked chicken.…
