The two stories “Fish Cheeks” and “Champion of the World” are kind of different. “Fish Cheeks” is write by a Chinses American writer Amy Tan; and “Champion of the World” is write by an African American writer Maya Angelou. Even though Amy Tan and Maya Angelou are both write in English, but the two writer are expressing different idea in their own story. I think the different culture effect Tan names the story “Fish Cheeks”, because Chinese spearing is more meaningful, a lot of people don’t know what fish cheeks is. Unlike “Fish Cheeks” “Champion of the World” is hard to understand; the writer use slang on the story and separate to a lot of paragraph. I think the reason why she did that is because she wants more people read her story “Fish Cheek "to understand how an American Chinese girl thought about their own culture. Many people may like Tan’s misunderstand about their family culture and become ashamed of their own culture. Tan leads people understand more about them self than anyone else, because many people having the same issue like Tan’s write about that to express their thoughts. “Champion of the World” is kind of simple to me I think the writer want to express her own idea about African American and let people know about the true hero in her
