Change isn’t always a physical thing for it may be involved with the feeling of sentimental value. This was the case for Nick in the story “At the Crossroads.” The story states that “His life felt repetitive and boring. It lacked a higher purpose. He felt he wasn’t growing as a person.” Nick had noticed that he wasn’t getting anywhere in life, and wanted to grow as a person so he acted upon it. Their mindset can help improve ours. In fourth grade, I had gotten in the stupidest argument with a girl in my group about books. I’m not sure what had gotten me to snap at her; I don’t really remember. It could’ve been something from the day before. Having had caused quite a loud commotion, the teacher had called me over to talk. I had never been in trouble like that before, so I had begun to panic. Despite what I did, she had spoken to me softly. Mrs. Munoz-Plaza, the teacher, simply told me that people grow at different rates and that no one’s mind is the same. What surprised me most was that I had not been given punishment. Instead, I had been given an important reason for being patient in the future. Many influences for change may not be physical. But either way, it will always be present.
As we realize how the world may be, go through sudden events, and learn from others, we begin to change. The effect of this is constantly going on around us, for it never stops. Even if it is negative or positive, change is the only way that we can grow into who we want to
