Chapter Five
1. Miss Maudie is not like the other women of Maycomb in that she treats them kindly and avoids humiliating them. However she is similar because she gardens and bakes.
2. Miss. Maudie tells Scout the truth about Boo Radley. She explains how Boo got in trouble with some teenagers and, in a plea bargain with the judge, was locked up in his father's house for pretty much eternity. This makes him seem less of a crazy man.

1. First, she is still terrified of Boo Radley. Second of all, Atticus has told them to leave the Radley's alone, and Scout doesn't want to disobey him.

Chapter ten
1. Scout tells this story in review, so no she does not think her dad was weak. As the novel goes on, Scout gains more and more respect for Atticus as a person and as a father.
2. Old Tim Johnson the neighbourhood rabid dog is on the loose. Atticus shoots him. Heck Tate is about to boast on how good a shot their daddy is when Atticus stops him. Atticus does not want to be known for anything to do with guns. Guns symbol of violence and Atticus is also a humble man.
Chapter Eleven
1. Atticus advises Jem to ignore Mrs. Dubose’s taunts because she is old and sick. Jem doesn’t believe Atticus and continues to be upset.
2. People who call him a nigga lover are entitled to their own opinion, the phrase doesn’t bother him.
3. Mrs. Dubose has the courage to end her addiction to morphine before her death and Atticus sees this as real courage.

1. She arrives to help out atticus as he is doing the tom robinson case and also have some feminine influence on scout. Aunt alexander is a typical woman, she bakes and cleans.
2. Alexandra feels strongly about gentle breeding and living up to the families name however Atticus wants them to be individuals and accept others.
Chapter Fourteen
1. No it isn’t suitable for scout as she doesn’t understand the wording of the language and the seriousness of the crime
2. Alexandra wants Calpurnia to be dismissed so the children can be raised by a white woman, however Atticus responds with that Calpurnia is almost a replacement for their mother and he doesn’t want there to be heartbreak but there is no reason for Atticus to dismiss her.
Chapter Fifteen
1. Their a group of white atheists and hate all people who have a religion or aren’t white and atticus says the KKK is gone
2. He tells him he is not going home and this is the first time he doesn’t listen to Atticus
3. Scouts persuades them to leave by talking to Mr. Cunningham

1. He is a white man who acts drunk so he can chill with the blacks.
2. He lets them go upstairs where all the blacks are. In this time of age it’s not right as the blacks and the whites should not be equal.
Chapter Seventeen
1. We learn that it is likely Mayella is an abused young lady who has to take care of the rest of the kids whilst Bob is away all day
2. He sees that Bob Ewell is left handed and the bruises on Mayella’s face are on her right side, so this means Tom Robinson couldn’t have done the bruises to her right side because toms left arm doesn’t work.
Chapter Eighteen
1. She is under pressure of lying in court under an oath to god and is scared Atticus will find out her father did it.
2. She thinks Atticus is making fun of her as she is only use to her father’s harsh words, it’s almost a foreign language.

1. Mayella always invited him in and asked him to help out with things around the house
2.It is an unhealthy relationship, Bob beats Mayella and tells her what she can and can’t do

1. No, Scout was wrong. She learns that Mr. Dolphus Raymond was not evil. He was actually very considerate of the white community around him.
2. It was that she is white and she attempted to kiss a negro.
Chapter twenty-one
1. It is unusual because usually they would give the verdict quickly as the blacks are always in the wrong, however they are actually deciding whether to let him free or lock him up.

1. Because Atticus is giving Tom Robinson a proper case, instead of just letting him go to jail.

1. For example, if the defendant in a case owns a gun and that gun was used to kill someone, then it is circumstantial evidence. In toms case all the evidence was circumstantial but there was not enough of it to prove him actually guilty.

1. The ladies of Maycomb gossip and don’t really care about anyone other than themselves. They like talking behind others backs, making fun of people, and acting like they are good Christian women.
2. Atticus reckons that Tom knew he was going to be shot and killed. Atticus believes that Tom was tired of the whites dictating his future.

3. It was a very big surprise. The story hasn’t really prepared you properly for the person boo would actually be as they portray him to be a hideous monster.
