Chapter Summary Of The Beach
In chapter one, the character, seventeen years old Cassia Maria Reyes introduces herself. The reader gains more knowledge about her and the society she lives in. The setting for chapter one takes place in the City Hall, where Cassia’s Match Banquet is being held. In the society where Cassia lives in, once an individual turns seventeen, they will have a Match Banquet, which means they get to find out who their match is (future husband/wife). During Cassia’s Match Banquet, the audience is introduced to Cassia’s best friend, Xander. Moreover, before finding out who Cassia’s match is, everyone is treated to a meal. After the meal, the matching begins and when it was Cassia’s turn, she was surprises, but also relieve to be matched with Xander. This is uncommon in the society because nobody is matched with someone that's also in the same city. …show more content…
Everyone was surprised and congratulated her, one man told Cassia’s father that he is in luck because now his daughter’s future is with someone they know, instead of a complete stranger. When she returned home, she told her little brother the news. In chapter three, people started to think that it was snowing in the middle of June; however, it turns out it was just cottonwood seeds in the air. In addition, the reader find out that Cassia’s job is to sort things, which is one of her strengths. When Cassia returns home, she find herself alone and decided to use that time to read the microchip on Xander that was given to her at her Match Banquet. The microchip is given to those who have gotten matched. Thus, the microchip contains information about one’s match. When Cassia pops the microchip to her family’s port, another guys face shows up on the screen instead of Xander's. In chapter four, just when another boys face shows up, the screen goes blank. Xander shows up at Cassia’s house, but Cassia didn't tell him what
