Character Analysis Of Amari In Copper Sun
Copper Sun is a novel by Sharon M. Draper about 15 year old Amari, whose village was taken over so she has to cope with the fact that her family is now gone. She also has to deal with the fact that she is being taken away from her true love. Throughout the story Amari displays many emotion, two major emotions are loneliness and bravery. Amari becomes very lonely when the fact that her parents and brother are dead becomes a reality. She still has Afi, who treats her like her own. On the very rough nights Afi was there to keep Amari from being hurt or lonely. Even though she had Afi, Amari was still lonely sometimes. Just for the simple fact that she didn't have her family anymore. "How can I continue to live without my family?” When Amari is being auctioned off she knows that she is about to be alone again. Up until then she had been with Afi. But now they are about to be split up and she is not ready for it. After …show more content…
She is now forced to show that she is bravery because she is now going to be a mother to a new baby and also Tidbit. Amari was ready to become a mother so that showed how brave she was because most fifteen year olds aren't willing to to have a baby and make it their number one priority. “Amari refused to think of Clay any longer, for she knew his evil spirit could never touch the love she was already beginning to feel for the child within her.” My personal opinion of this book is that it's really good because it gives you a chance to see how people feel during their capturing and becoming a slave. As well as their journey to freedom, from the eyes of a teenager. Many of Sharon Draper’s book are like that. Shes able to connect with her teenage audience which is great. Another thing about the book is that it is a book that gives you a chance to see the effect that being a slave has on a person because it really changes you. That was something seen with Besa near the end of the

I liked this novel very much because it shows how precious life is, and that drinking and driving is NEVER a good idea. The story makes me realize that with maturity, comes difficult choices, and you must always be wise. Things like this happen every day and people always think, “Oh it won’t happen to me,” but you never know. I would recommend this book to my friends because I think the story line would influence their choices greatly. I think it would give them a better perspective on making good…

I liked this book. I really admired Brigitte’s character. The fact that she was able to leave her fancy lifestyle, family, and extensive opportunities available to her in France, to take care of her ex-husband’s little girl that she had never met before, in a dirty little desert town out in the middle of nowhere, is truly amazing to me. Her character definitely grew throughout this book. I believe she went from being a young woman not knowing what she was getting into, to being a mature loving mother to a ten yr. old little girl who needed her very much.…

It gave me in depth understanding of the South and the way that they interact with the rest of the country. As a woman from the west coast I only know of the great migration of African Americans from the South to the North. But now I understand it was not just because of the poor way that they were treated but for many more reasons. The couldn’t get work because they were thought of as inferior, and it was made harder for them to vote people of the long lines and the voting tax. ‘The southern Negro’ had to be my favorite chapter. The only thing I disliked was how the book justified why the South wouldn’t free the slaves. The booked looked at in more of an economic…

I liked this book mainly because of how different it was compared to my lifestyle and how entertaining it was. Nikki turner didn’t really sugar coat much so I felt I was watching a movie and saw it for what it truly was. Like anyone’s guilty pleasure we all like reality television and it kind of reminded me of just that with fights and drama. The books good points that were how certain events that happen in one’s life good or bad really do shape a person into who they become. Teaching me to not be ashamed of what happens and to only use that circumstance as a motivation of some kind. For anyone that is interested in a gritty, suspenseful, and eye bulging book that keeps you wondering what’s next I would definably recommend this book to that someone willing to take a…

This book is a must read because it has a very personal account. It makes you feel like you are really there. Her writing is truly heartfelt. She tells about how she felt and how she felt that other people felt. She connects everything that she talks about with how she feeling about it, by showing her reaction in her writing. In her book she states that she went to school in the face of competition from governor Orval Faubus and the state National Guard, she shows how she felt about it while she goes on talking about the events.…

It had humor, real life events, sadness, and suspense. I would most definitely recommend this novel to someone because although it’s very long, you won’t want to stop reading it. This book will make you wonder, cry, even laugh. It’s a book that I think had great meaning and was put together very well. In my opinion, there is no flaws about this book except how long it is.…

Throughout this chapter, Ashima has further assimilated to American culture as she is finally able to settle and find a role for herself to fulfill. To show, the author writes, “Lately she’s begun to work at the main desk...A number of them live alone, as Asima does now, because they are divorced. They are the first American friends she has made in her life,” (162). As a result of Ashima spending the majority of her time at home now that Ashoke, Gogol, and Sonia are out of the house, this shows how Ashima explored beyond what she is usually used to. Thus, obtaining a job and new American friends, which symbolizes that she has further indulged herself into the American lifestyle.…

I enjoyed that the book challenged some of the biggest problems in our legal system, or even society as a whole. There is still a lot of racism going on, and this book was not afraid to exploit that. I enjoy those kinds of readings. It was quite boring and not much occurred until near the end of the book. Subhi’s mother lies in bed sleeping for most of the story, while Jimmie and Subhi constantly meet up with each other to tell stories. I was hoping for some more action and conflicts to help stay interested. Nevertheless, it is difficult to find anything else not to like about the book. The writing style is fantastic, it flows smoothly, and it gives a great view of what it is like to live in a detention center or refugee camp.…

Bechdel’s analysis of her and her father’s lives, and her ability to wed it to distinct visuals, was inventive and involving. I remember one page in particular where she mapped out the places where her father was born, lived, and died, and circumscribed the area within one tidy circle to reveal that all of these important things happened within one mile’s distance of each other. The narrative loops back and forth upon itself, and parcels out new information at a measured pace, showing the readers new facets of the same story as it progresses. I appreciated Bechdel’s depth of focus in both her writing and her visuals – nearly everything is in its right place. I admire how much effort went into writing and drawing something so emotionally painful, and how much more effort went into making it all look seamless.…
