Atticus finch is held up as the hallmark of what it means to have empathy and, as a parent he makes it his goal to instill that same feeling in his children scout and jem. He shows that he loves them and he takes care of them and he shows a lot of empathy. Atticus is really nice person to all his kids. As a parent he is always there for them and he does whatever it takes for his kids.
In chapter 3, scout gets in a fight with walter cunningham jr because she thought that he got her in trouble in school, then jem broke them up and told walter if he wanted to have dinner us and my family so we can talk it out. Jem asked both of them if they can be friends again jem wanted to let them solve their problems. This shows that jem really cared about both of them and wanted to help them solve their problems. Empathy is a ability to feel what someone else is experiencing to share in their feelings in to kill a mockingbird, atticus finch, scout and jem all demonstrate what empathy was, each character has their own point of view that shows them being empathy. Being empathy to another can affect your life to because you're caring for someone which makes them empathy.
