Character Essay

I never thought I could run so fast, but with all the energy I have from not doing anything all school year builds up. I used to always be into sports, always have to join all the clubs in school. But once my freshman year at Brown High I needed to change I couldn’t be Stevens’s sister or Haley’s sister anymore I had to be recognized as Emma. I always have expectations I must live up to with my Mom being Doctor Brown and my Dad being the one founded the High School I now attend. Don’t forget being behind my all star brother who is pretty much the team captain of the hockey team and known as the best player ever seen in North Carolina, and the worst part is having a sister who is six months older then you are and the most popular girl in school. I have a lot to live up to. To me I am the type of child who would rather hide then be seen, who would like to help then be helped. I try to blend in but with everyone knowing my family or having my family be so popular it’s very hard to hide.

I don’t have a lot of friends, but I have my best friends, Paul and Stacy and don’t forget Sarah. They all have different personalities Paul is like the brother I wish I had he always tries not to be noticed but he is so nice everyone has to know him. I used to or still have a crush on Paul but no one knows this. Then there is Stacy everyone knows her even if she is wants to hang out with us she still has to have a high school ranking, she also hangs out with Haley but she has to if she wants to fit in. Then finally there is Sarah, she always hides but once you get to know her she is very wild, if you are her best friend she is so hyper around you but when someone you don’t know shows up then she is the most nervous person ever. My friends and I have pretty much nothing in common but we somehow became friends and were irreplaceable.

I am pretty sure I have

For about as long as I could remember, my wish has always been to fit in, and be well-liked by everyone. I began acting a certain way that wasn’t me, and even began to lose my identity. I followed all trends and began to lose more and more of my identity as time chipped away. This all stopped as soon as high school began. High school was such a disquieting transition along with all of the new changes I’d be facing. New classmates, teachers, subjects, and responsibilities. I was now required to think twice before every move and concentrate on everything more adequately. All these changes made me begin to realize that I should learn more about my identity and do what makes me tranquil and content as a person.…

The audience gains a greater understanding and appreciation of the consequences and societal issues presented through the author’s texts of changing perspectives. This greater understanding is represented by a wide range of language techniques showing the quality of a change of perspective in life. In the short story ‘Forgotten Jelly’ by Megan Jacobson, it demonstrates how an individual understands the consequences and issues while time progresses, which in turn leads to a change of perspective. Likewise, in the poem ‘Mending Wall’ by Robert Frost, we observe how, as the characters develop, they understand and gradually learn more about the perspective of others and eventually leading to a change of their previous views.…

During this time, my younger brother was born and the downfall of my parent’s relationship began. Home life was difficult, but surrounding myself in books and science projects comforted me and I was happy with myself. I learned that drowning myself in novels and tutoring others was the best cure to feeling upset about either family or friend drama, so I used this to my advantage from seventh to eleventh grade. As a result, I received Academic Awards and was placed on the Honor Roll every year and was extremely proud of this version of myself that I had…

Lena dreamed to have a home of her own and to see her children accomplish their own dreams. Beneatha dreamed to become a doctor and to find the correct way to “express” herself. Ruth dreamed to be wealthy and have a happy family and Walter dreamed one day to be the owner of a business and become a "real man". It is these dreams that serve to explain the personality of the characters, provide a meaningful context for the development and decline of conflicts between them, and help the readers either admire or revile them.…
