Risk factors of female sex offenders include having a low self-esteem, there is a history of severe abuse, parent absence in childhood, they were sexually victimized as a child, feelings of isolation and alienation, there is a history of sexually activity that is compulsive or indiscriminate, and a history of alcohol and/or drug abuse (Barrier, 2015). Adolescent female sex offender risk factors include dysfunctional family, mental health difficulties, pregnancy, academic failure, antisocial peers, and parent/child difficulties (Center for Sex Offender Management, 2007). Adult female sex offender risk factors include self-injury, suicidal attempts, employment difficulties, low educational attainment, difficulties in intimate relationships, and antisocial peers and attitudes (Center for Sex Offender Management, 2007).
