The great migration was good time for African American history it was the new Negro movement. I think that was a great idea to let African Americans migrate if it was due to better job oppuninities and higher wages and a better living. But later on in the reading I saw that it turned into riots and wars. A large number of African American migrated through rivers many used the Mississippi river and Philadelphia. As they migrated they sang and danced on the freedom train with in the African American cultural tradition.
“Cry Havoc”
This was the time of “The read summer 1919” Johnson discovered the fighting between white soldiers and sailors and between black and white troops. “The wars aftermath new boundaries were drawn and old taboo reinstated”. It was a competition for jobs and housing was the cause of the riot .But the main cause was to keep blacks beneath them and treat then unequal and control them.
What had shocked me was when Eugene accidentally crossed an invisible racial boundary and was drowned because a white man threw stones at his forehead .No one helped the police refused to arrest the man. My opinion is that the guy should have been punished for this terrible tragedy. What if it was the other way around and a black man did that? I would think that he would have be lynched during that
