Hearing the crowd scream as the stunt hits gets the adrenaline pumping to push through the routine and fight for the stunts. Can you guess what “sport” is being talked about? Well it’s cheerleading. Yes cheerleading is really a sport even though many people will argue it. Cheerleaders that are seen at the New England Patriots are sideline cheerleaders and do not show the physical aspect of cheerleading like competitive cheerleaders do. Yes, I can bench 200lbs and can life a girl over my head and hold her there. No I do not run across the field at 5mph, but I do tumble across the mat at about 12mph. No I do not get sacked by a linebacker running at me full speed, but I do get punched, kicked, and beaten down in the ground by my flyer. The only difference between them is that figure skating is done most of the time alone and gymnastics although for the most part a gymnast is part of a team they all compete separately and only one can truly win.
