when I first approach the museum door. When I went inside the building, all my skin was full of chill and my eyes were wide open. The museum has extraordinary power that will swallow your brain with excitement. As I move inside the building, I declared that I am not in a right place or that I do not belong there. I bet, every single of my classmates were disoriented when they went inside the museum. It was an experience that I never imagined that I would be part of it. The moment I stepped on the stairs there was an uncontrollable feeling that I never felt in a long time.
The building was built in 1897 after the Great Chicago Fire. The cultural center building was one of the Chicago’s most admired buildings that dwells for a long time. When you head to the first floor, everything you see or step on is made of marble. Moreover, the artworks we saw on the first floor was fascinating and jaw dropping. Every artwork has a story to tell to his audience. Especially, one of the art work by Jose Lerma “The flag of the middle class” was one of the best artwork that I admired the most. The second art work that was interesting was the by Mario Chavez “Ghost”. It was made from beeswax and snake shade. It was remarkable to see magnificent arts that would make leave speechless. The third artwork that amuses me was by Nora Nieves “The heater”. Nora made this art in 2013, it was made of fluorescent acrylic and graphite rubbing paper. There were many artwork that would make your tour one of the best experience that you will never forget.
The most interesting part of the tour was the demonstration of Theo Jansen “Strandbeest” art work. When they show us when it moves its legs and tails from a wind power, I felt like I am witnessing a miracle. The moment I saw the beast moving, I was thrilled by the artist imagination to come up with this idea. Theo made a moving object or mechanical animal with Dutch PVC to show the world art and engineering only exist in our thoughts. His art work was viewed by so many people who came from different places, and everyone was stunned by what they saw at the museum.
The cultural center buildings were constantly changing for different purpose. I have lived in Chicago for more than six years, but I never thought of going to cultural center. Now I know what I was missing the whole six years that lived in Chicago. It is good to have a habit of going to a museum once in a while and visit the culture, history, and artworks of our time. Now I can say that my belief of going to a museum has changed drastically, I will visit the museum more often.
