Chief Compliance Officer
We are honored to announce that Gary Jones has joined WPDC as our Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). In his new role, he will oversee, monitor, audit, and validate our quality, standards, and performance to ensure WPDC is operating at the highest level of integrity, excellence, and quality while delivering our mission to the WordPress software community.

In the summer of 2015, after my Genesis Camp presentation, Gary and I began working together. I believe strongly in building monitoring systems to ensure we are doing what we say and intend. This role is Gary's life's work, as in our ecosystem, he is the authority on quality, professionalism, and excellence. Although he was already an Academic Advisor, I wanted him to have a seat at the table

Many of the staff, volunteers and members of the advisory boards are well-known in the WP community. Together we are positioned to help transform WordPress professionals by educating them about the art and science of software engineering.

My background is in education. After spending four years training as a school teacher, I spent several years teaching in schools and prisons before switching to freelance web development. I enjoy learning and find great satisfaction in imparting to others the knowledge and experience I've obtained. Being part of a company and community who appreciate the value of education combined with software engineering is an ideal situation for me. It's not a one-way flow, either; I, too, will be continuously learning and improving my coding skills with the help of the experts at WP Developers Club.

My role of Chief Compliance Officer isn't one of checking compliance with legal and regulatory standards. It's about the quality of everything at WPDC. This is for both internal processes and external delivery of education to our students. My passion for excellence will help guide WPDC as a respected provider of education. Together we will propel the WP community

That won't be easy, but along the way we'll improve every student's understanding, thereby raising the level of knowledge across the entire community, and that's to everyone's benefit. Freelancers will move beyond being copy-and-paste implementors and gain the skills to grow their business by understanding the "why" of code. Agencies will have a partner who can help train or provide staff, affording them the ability to offer more technically complete business solutions for their clients. End-clients can rest assured knowing that they will receive a quality solution from a software

You're the security chief at a manufacturing company that makes small metal hand tools. The plant employs roughly one hundred people. Management has told you that many tools have disappeared. According to company records, the plant produces approximately fifty thousand per day, but far fewer are actually being shipped out. After double-checking the figures to ensure their accuracy, you have concluded that pilferage is the only possible explanation. A meal detector positioned at the employee exit near the time clock would catch anyone trying to smuggle tools out of the factory. Because the purchase cost of a metal detector is prohibited, you have decided to rent one. Anyone caught stealing will immediately be fired, and a note to that effect will become part of the individual's personnel file. You don't want to create an atmosphere of hostility, but you do need to inform the employees about these developments. Write a memo to be posted on the main bulletin board and sent via e-mail.…

October 16, 2006 JERRY D. LANE VICE PRESIDENT, CAPITAL METRO AREA SUBJECT: Management Advisory – Delivery and Retail Standard Operating Procedures – Capital Metro Area (Report Number DR-MA-07-001) This report presents the results of our review of the implementation of Delivery and Retail Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the Capital Metro Area (Project Number 06XG016DR003). Our overall objective was to assess implementation of Delivery and Retail SOP in the Capital Metro Area. This is one in a series of reports on Delivery and Retail operations issued under the Value Proposition Agreement between the Vice President, Delivery and Retail, and the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) Delivery and Retail directorate. The information in this report will be included in a nationwide capping report assessing implementation of Delivery and Retail SOP. The Capital Metro Area, selected districts and delivery and retail unit officials implemented the Delivery and Retail SOP for city and rural delivery and Function 4 (customer service) operations. Implementation included training supervisors and managers, developing action steps for “vital few” units, and outlining future plans to complete remaining reviews and certifications by the end of fiscal year 2006. Officials also certified delivery and retail units under Morning Standard Operating Procedures (AMSOP) and Rural Delivery Standard Operating Procedures (RDSOP) and conducted Function 4 reviews. Based on our review of the city and rural delivery and Function 4 SOP, the Capital Metro Area implemented each component of the SOP except for selected aspects of AMSOP, Delivery Point Sequencing (DPS), matching workhours to workload, RDSOP, and Retail Data Mart Window Operations Survey (RDM WOS). During our review, officials implemented corrective actions to improve the AMSOP, DPS, and RDSOP. Unit officials did not always adhere to policies to adequately match workhours to…
