4. What are the skills of an effective Chief Sustainability Officer?
According to AccountAbility.org, Chief Sustainability Officers should be business leader, relationship manager and sustainability expert in order to effectively run an institution. “The ideal Chief Sustainability Officers should be an experienced executive with established business experience and an excellent track record of working with people at all levels of the organization. A Chief Sustainability Officer with proven business acumen will be able to influence and challenge senior management thinking and gain credibility on a wide range of complex and contentious issues.” Therefore 50% of a Chief Sustainability Officer responsibility is being able to effectively delegate tasks, trust team members with business duties while incorporating sustainable practices and most importantly challenge administration procedures while keeping the mission of the intuition in mind. Making these decisions shows leadership initiative and specifically the capability to integrate sustainably into business productivity.

    This report contains a sustainability audit of Council X based on information provided by employees of the council and key documents published for internal use. In the body of the report I have performed an analysis of your organisations current performance against your internally identified sustainability issues. The key finding is that Council X using their funding to promote sustainability to the public and to external organisations but are not using best practice internally.
