Bingo!
1. Ask participants to choose a theme, such as literacy, home, school, children, etc.
2. Give each participant a Bingo Card (attached), or ask them to make their own.
3. Ask participants to call out 16 words related to that theme, one word at a time—for example, kitchen, garden, etc.
4. Write each word on the board or a flipchart. At the same time, ask each participant to write the word in any of the boxes.
5. Call out the words at random. The first participant to get a straight line and call out “Bingo!” is the winner.
6. You can play this game using French or an Aboriginal language.
Choose a topic like animals or the land, or another topic where people might be familiar with the words. You can call the game another name, if that is more appropriate for your community.

Piget believed that children learn and go through stages and sequences. We practice this in nursery by using age assessment development sheets. Piget believed that children are active learners, and so we can encourage them through play and activities. It is also believed that children imitate and transform what they learn into symbolic behaviour. We use this information by rewarding the well behaved children, in the hope that the other children will copy and imitate the good behaviour.…

P4.1- I have been involved in identifying hazards in my setting, such as in the water play area, the children accidently spilling water on the floor from splashing the water out of the water bowl whilst playing with the fishing set. Also from trying to experiment with pouring and filling their cups at snack time. Therefore, because this happened I proceeded to use in initiative and clean up the spillage on the floor with a mop. The procedure I had took in this situation was that I asked the children to step away from the puddle on the floor and I informed one other staff about what I had seen and asked if they can keep an eye on children while I went to go and get a mop or a towel to clean up the spilt area. I then went to collect the appropriate facilities and clean up the wet area so the children would not slip over and hurt themselves. I then informed a member of staff a child had got wet so they changed the clothes of a child, as they was wet from playing in the water and it then I put a dry towel on the floor so if there is another spillage, the towel will keep it fairly dry.…

I did not design the lunch menu for my center; however, I serve it to my children on a daily basis. We use the CRMC food service, which has many benefits. One positive aspect is that there is no extra cost to the center, and enough food is delivered daily so that each child is served the appropriate proportions. My center works with the hospital to create a “short cycle menu,” a menu that is different everyday and repeats itself after a certain number of days, specifically a one-week cycle menu that is chosen by our director with faculty input. This cycle menu shows strengths because the children seem to enjoy a shorter cycle of fewer foods, and our director is able to control the menu to ensure that quality foods are served. The food served each day includes the food groups required for a balanced diet with whole milk. None of the meals contain potential choking hazards and all food is cut with food scissors for my age group. Each month, our center updates our allergy alert sheet, which is posted in every classroom. The staff complies to each child’s needs everyday at lunch and snack. I would not change my centers lunch menu because it promotes a healthy diet, meets their nutritional needs, and the children like it.…

In the work setting it is essential to be able to communicate effectively with many different people on a daily basis. It is important to establish good relationships with a range of different people so that you can plan for and meet their needs. Personally in my setting I am expected to communicate with teachers, children, classroom assistants, lunch supervisors, clerical staff, care takers and parents. Different forms of communication may be required to do so and good communication skills are essential. It is impossible to develop good relationships without good communication. In my work setting the first people I would communicate with is the teacher of the class I am with. From them I learn the plans for the day, what child r children may need extra help, the goals we are working towards and any changes to the class, the children and the plans in place. After listing to the teacher I would then ask any relevant questions and ensure I am ready for the day ahead. Good communication is essential at this point as it helps build respectful relationships, and means that we work together in a team for the good of the children. Poor communication here would lead to either myself or the teacher being unsure of or tasks for the day, which may then lead to confusion for the children. Poor communication may then lead to feelings of stress and resentment as we may feel that we are being ignored or unappreciated. When we are communicating with our managers and peers, we need to ensure that we are communicating appropriately and respectfully. Firstly we need to ensure that were we are communicating is at an appropriate time and location, and that we speak to each other in an appropriate tone of voice. It is essential that we listen to everyone else, and respect their opinions and ideas. We can show we are listening by responding with appropriate questions, having eye contact and open, receptive body…

According to John DiConsiglio between 70% and 90% of teens in the United States play video games and it is said that 5% to 10% of those kids are addicted to gaming, but what about the other 80%? Although people may argue that the internet or video games cause adolescents to have antisocial personalities that isn’t necessarily true for every person. The internet and videogames can have positive impacts on both the world and people’s lives. The internet and both online and video games aren’t detrimental to adolescents’ intellectual and social development because they can be used for educational tools and they allow teens to become more involved in the world around them.…
