We will provide child care service for fifty-one children from the age of infancy to four years old. Children will be separated into four different age groups and cared for accordingly. Infants will be nurtured and delicately cared for by a very mindful and devoted staff. Research shows that proper child care has a large positive impact on a child’s language, pre-math skills, self-control, sociability, and cooperative play. Through this program, we hope to help children flourish with positive characteristics by planning daily educational and social activities for each age group. Children of age will also be given indoor and outdoor play and recreational time. Child care services will be offered during the day time hours of 7:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. on each day that college classes are conducted. Parents of infants will be required to bring breast milk, formula, or baby food daily. Our program will provide three healthy, well-balanced meals per day for toddlers and pre-school aged children. In these discussions I will consider the role of the teacher in promoting these factors and putting them into effect. On Wednesday July 2nd, 2014 I visited Wiley Mildred Family Day care center to observe a group of children that I have never met at a house I have never been to. Throughout my hour that I spent at Wiley Mildred I observed a group of children interacting with each other as well as the caregivers as they were having their outside privileges. As I conducted my observation I studied children’s actions and noticed the practicing of the Sociocultural Theory, the Social Learning Theory, the Cognitive Theory, and the Psychoanalytic Theory. All these theories were able to be observed through actions this is due to their environment around them and the activities they were engaged in. The three year olds gross motor skills, which are related to active play, consisted of throwing a large ball and running at a long distance to catch it, jumping up and down, climbing up the slide and jungle gym with ease and quickly. There was constant movement with the child in all the 45 minutes that I observed her and her level of activity was very high. It was hard to catch her at moment of stillness, and even then he would be fidgeting under the table or in her seat. I saw the employees modeling desired behavior rather than teaching or preaching. The children have breakfast shortly after arriving at the center and the staff washed hands “with” the children and talked about what they were doing; “now I am putting soap on my hands” and “now I am taking one paper towel to dry my hands”. The caregivers did not just serve the children their breakfast they were allowed to dish up their own food with developmentally appropriate utensils. They had a small pitcher with the milk in it that had a special pour spout to prevent spills, they had the children pour their own milk into a cup and then put it in their bowl, I feel that by allowing the children to serve themselves they were respectful of their abilities and contributes to their feelings of success. It would have been quicker to serve the food to the children as I have seen in other centers yet they allowed the children to serve themselves thus teaching many self help skills. The adults sat with the children at breakfast and modeled desired behavior. I set up an appointment with the Kids Club daycare at 9:45 am on November 4th to observe for an hour of toddler classroom who were between three and four years old. The principle gave me a warm greeting and took me to the class and introduced me to the teachers and the children. Everyone there made me feel welcomed. I chose a place where I can sit, observe and write my note as well as to be away from children's sight. In the classroom there were five boys, two girls, and two teachers Ms. Nadia and Ms. Emma. The classroom itself was large and spacious. The classroom is very appropriate for children this age and it has many interesting areas such as a blocks and art area, and children taped some of their previous work in the art area.
