Childhood obesity is a big issue in the United States. Did you know there are over 45 to 53 percent of children’s under the age of 17 in the United States that are obese? According to Wikipedia.Com ‘’obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health’’. Childhood obesity has many causes and effects that need to be understood so that we can stop it.

Some of the main causes of childhood obesity are family statutes, junk food consumption, and little or no exercises. Some families have unhealthy eating habits were they consume unhealthy food on a regular basis. For example, some families have Fish Fry’s as a meal where the fish is fried in fatting, unhealthy cooking oil and eaten in large amount. Junk food is also a big issue of obesity. According to John Fry who is a scientist, say diabetes ‘’is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the body does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. This disease usually occurs when a person is obesity, it can cause unexpected weight loss, increase appetite, and wounds that are slow to heel. Stress and depression is an issue when children’s are obese. For example, I attended a preparatory high school on the West Side of Chicago and there were over three children’s in my freshman class that where obese.
