Children Should Be Kept Away from Media Voilence
Children should be kept away from media voilence
Recently Web and television has been so common that it is in the access of every child. Cartoons, movies, fairy tales and fiction these all seem really wonderful, but if a person knows what they do to the young mind of his/her child, then maybe he'll never let him/her watch or use these things again. As we see around the minds of the children these days are beyond inocence. In the 3 1/2 feet tall boy their is a brain of a 15 year old lad. Children should be kept away from media voilence to let them grow up as children.
This is a fact that has to be noticed, a young childs lungs and heart is a replica but smaller version of an adults same organs. But their brain is not, their brain will grow and develop depending on what stimuli/signal it receives. Too much of sound, screen rays and voilence can damage a childs brain. Watching too much television and voilence can increase the amount of ADHD in the brain that makes the child aggressive. These effect are mostly seen in children below 7. Adults do not have to be really concerned about this as they are mature enough to undersatand that fictions have no roles in real life. Watching TV makes children care less when violence happens. A child influenced by media violenced is less likely to care or try to prevent violence going on around him. He'll fight with everyone around himand will hit with harmful thing, will jump off from any hieght and will cause damage to other things also.
People have been started reacting towards voilence inversely, This also explains why people laugh when something horrible happens, we are hardwiring our brains to link violence as fun when we eat our favorite snacks and hold hands with our loved ones as people die in the most horrific ways on the screen. Linking the good emotions with the violence on the screen. We mostly don't realize how painful in reality it can be.Watching media violence leads to increased sense of fear. I have a phobia of

The American Academy of Pediatrics also offers some advice in this regard. They believe that media education can make a child “less susceptible to the bad effects of watching violent TV” (Bar-on and Rich). By educating the children about what goes on in their TV we put them at an advantage of being able to decipher what is good to watch and what’s not so good.…

We know that for the most part, children learn from both experience and social learning or role modeling. Therefore, when children, especially young children, see violence on television, they have a difficult time differentiating between what is real or what is make believe, and tend to emulate or copy what they are seeing. Furthermore, there is a chemical change in the brain, similar to that which is seen in post-traumatic stress disorder; if enough violence is viewed, the brain reacts as if the person doing the viewing has actually been abused. This is especially true if the violence is one sided, as in the case of sadistic violence. Now add to this the fact that children who watch violence on television have brains that are still developing, and you can see how really dangerous TV viewing can be.…

The debate over the connection between television and aggression in children has been ongoing for many years. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), “Extensive research evidence indicates that media violence can contribute to aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, nightmares, and fear of being harmed (Vol. 124 No. 5 Nov 1, 2009, pg 1495). There seems to be a link between how much and what kind of television children watch, as to the type of behavior is exhibited. Parents need to be aware of what their child views on television and to limit the amount that they watch.…

Therefore, the media should reduce the amount of violence that is in children television shows. Rethinking the plots and making shows more educational but fun at the same would leave a more positive affect on the young children watching. The violent media displayed to kids can influence the decisions they make in everyday life. According to the American Psychological Association, “Violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior by children teens who watch these programs”(APA,249). In other words, the American Psychological Association believes that these violent programs have a high influence on children and young teens. These aggressive behaviors exhibited by young children can cause bodily harm and also emotional harm for children. Once a child develops a pattern of aggressive behavior caused by TV Violence, it is a very process to reverse or get rid of this…

This is an argument that should indefinitely point out the major impacts on young children. However this will be examining this topic in a much broader sense that will encompass the media as an entity and not focus only on the negative aspects but also the positive aspects of the media to show that the media is not in all ways bad for children. Media affecting children is increasingly rising, and is becoming a big factor among children's behaviors, but other factors such as parenting will also participate to whether media is harmful to children.…

More recent research suggests that watching violent television at a young age may result in violent behavior as a young adult (Huesmann, et al., 2003). Brain imaging studies suggest that long term effects may be the result of patterns of neural activation that trigger emotionally laden behavioral scripts that children learn when watching violent programming (Murray et al., 2006). These patterns of neural activation also explains the finding that repeated viewing of violent programming leads to emotional desensitization regarding violence and to the belief that physical aggression is an appropriate way to solve problems (Van Mierlo & Van den Bulck, 2004).…

Lastly children that are exposed too much TV can show risky behaviors not appropriate for children. You may think a show is not bad but something simple as a child seeing someone smoking can provoke thoughts in the child’s head. Some TV shows and cartoons also promote racial stereotypes. All this can affect the child when they go out in the real world and how they treat others.…

The APA clearly states that children should not be watching TV due to the massive amount of violence shown on TV today. Research has shown that "children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others; may be more fearful of the world around them; and may be more likely to behave in aggressive or harmful ways towards others" (161). It articulates in the APA that children who apparently watch a lot of TV are less prone to violent acts and are less sensitive to viewing them. Also something researchers notice was chidden who were in elementary school and watched violent shows tend to have a higher level of aggressive behavior when they became teenagers. What scientists are recommending now is that parents should actually sit down with their child and at least watch one episode of the show that their children is watching so, they are aware of what their children are watching and they will be able to talk about it with them.…

Children are very susceptible to the “monkey see-monkey do” complex, they are raised to walk, talk, and act like the adults they see. So when a child is shown large amounts of violence, for example “…13 to 22 acts of physical aggression per hour in Saturday Morning television” (Scharrer 25), they tend to feel less disturbed by it. This style of desensitization is prevalent in anything that is presented to children on a regular basis. The short-term effects of media violence are easy to indentify by simply asking kids how they feel about violence after seeing said images, but the long-term effects of media of violence are harder to study because the generation that has been exposed to it the most (the current generation) has not yet fully matured. Many of the children who media violence may potentially affect haven’t grown up enough to have the freedom to commit a violent act.…

The context in which violence is portrayed has a big effect on how it affects people (“Media Violence”). When viewing violence teaches someone how to be violent or encourages him or her to be violent, it will affect people negatively. When viewing violence teaches someone about violence but does not encourage him or her to be violent, it will have less of a negative effect on most people, and in some cases it can even discourage the use of violence in real life. Some media accurately portrays the consequences of violence, such as the loss, the hurting, and the grieving it causes; when a person can associate these negative effects with violence, they are less likely to become aggressive in their behavior. On the other hand, when media does not illustrate the negative effects of violence but instead just uses violence as a way to interest its audience, it can very easily negatively affect people’s behaviors, thoughts, and…

Experts even suggest that the evidence linking media violence to aggressive behavior is stronger than the evidence linking smoking to lung cancer (Gentile). In the United States an average of 20-25 violent acts are shown in children's television programs each hour (Media Wise). Violence (homicide, suicide, and trauma) is the leading cause of death for children, adolescents and young adults, more prevalent than disease, cancer or congenital disorders (Youth Violence Facts at a Glance 2). In fact, six prominent medical groups (American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychological Association, American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Psychiatric Association) warn of these effects of media violence on children: Children will increase anti-social and aggressive behavior, become less sensitive to violence and those who suffer from violence, children may view the world as violent and mean, become more fearful of being a victim of violence, children may desire to see more violence in entertainment and real life, and children will view violence as an acceptable way to settle conflicts (National Institute on Media and the Family). While most adults realize that media violence is fabricated, children are more vulnerable. Preschoolers cannot distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy. Children who identify with aggressive heroes are more likely to be more aggressive. They learn that violence is effective, courageous, socially acceptable and rewarded, and they get caught in the aggression cycle. Aggressive children prefer aggressive programming (Medscape). These…

Television viewing is a major activity and influence on children and adolescents. People complain that certain TV shows are having negative effects on their children. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) both feel that TV does influence the behavior of children as young as one year old. From their studies, the AACAP states, “Children who view shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see” (as cited in Wilcox, 2004) This speaks to the impressionable mindsets of young children, who are still learning control of their minds and bodies, and are likely to mimic what they see, as it seems quite normal to them. Everything that children see or hear in the media early on in their lives affects them in some way. Violence, sexuality, race and gender stereotypes, drug and alcohol abuse are common themes of television programs. The Academy of Pediatrics says “More than one thousand scientific studies and reviews conclude that significant exposure to media violence increases the risk of aggressive behavior…
