Children should not have screen time taken away from them it's apart of everyday life. I feel as if certain television shows help toddlers learn things also smaller childer(ages 5-9). There are all types of networks created just for them. There's:PBS Kids, Channel thirteen, Sprout, Nick jr. etc. Also they have websites for children too. ABC mouse helps so much. My little brother uses it on a daily, and his vocabulary has improved so much just to be almost two years old.…
I believe that television can influence children in good and bad ways. Depending of what types of shows and channels the kids are watching it could actually be a good thing. If a child is only allowed to watch kids shows, and kids’ channels they won’t learn anything bad. If children are just watching shows like Dora the Explorer and Jake’s Neverland Island, they aren’t going to learn anything bad; they may actually learn things that are beneficial. With Dora the Explorer they learn problem solving and also get introduced to some Mexican culture and Spanish. If you were to let a child watch adult shows though, it may not turn out very well. For instance, if you let a little girl grow up watching shows like Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant, they grow up thinking that the way these girls act is ok, because hey, if they’re on TV, they must be doing something right.…
Television has kept the world entertained for decades. Although this holds true, some believe the children watching are susceptible to inappropriate programs on television. Although there are guidelines to follow for television programming, these guidelines are sometimes ignored.…
These days just about every household owns a TV. There are many programs for children on the TV and we may think that it is harmless for a child to watch TV because they are “educational” or what not. True, some shows can teach your child some beneficial things such as learning to count or the alphabet, yet if a child is watching too much TV how can this impact the way children interact? And how much do you think is too much TV watching? Well according to the website (Kids Health from Neumors) they say : “The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that kids under 2 years old not watch any TV and that those older than 2 watch no more than 1 to 2 hours a day of quality programming.” We may think, well why this is when the kid is under 2 years of age how can it have an effect on them. Well the website (Kids Health from Neumors) they mention “The first 2 years of life are considered a critical time for brain development. TV and other electronic media can get in the way of exploring, playing, and interacting with parents and others, which encourages learning and healthy physical and social development.” I personally have noticed that kids in this day and age play less outdoors and when I was a child I always wanted to go play outside and use my imagination to create my own adventures. Now I see many parents struggle to get their kids to go outside and play. I notice many kids are addicted to watching TV or even more so be stuck on playing video games. According to (CNN.com) “ when you consider that more time is spent in front of a television means less time spent on homework or having stimulating interactions with adults or other children. In addition, late-night TV watching tires kids out so that they can't pay attention in school. Also, television hands kids all the answers, promoting passive learning and short attention spans. As a result, kids have difficulty concentrating and working hard to solve a problem.”…
In today 's world everywhere, we go there is some type of media. In most homes, there are at least one or more TV sets. Adults are known for watching so much TV our younger generations are starting to develop the same habit if not worse due to more technology. Children are exposed to watching TV at such young age due to their parents watching TV. Children ages two to five years old watch an average of 32 hours of television a week, that is doubled that recommended amount per day. TV is a nice relaxing pastime for a couple hours but not when the privilege is abused. TV is ok but not when it is excessive television. When toddlers watch too much television it can cause health problems such as bad eating habits and obesity. Toddlers learn that watching TV is better than going outside to play. For a young child, it is important that television viewing is limited. Limited and monitored TV is ok because too much TV can delay a toddler’s development.…
Dr. John Grohol wrote an article called “Debilitating Effects of TV on Children” which explains that children who watch too much TV affects their academic performance, cause health problems, and possibly lose their innocence.…
As one of the issues that affect children because they watch too much television is health wise. The biggest issue that has been targeted the most is children becoming overweight. “The number of children and adolescents who are overweight or obese has doubled in the past 20 years in the U.S. according to the APP. (LimiTV, n.d.) Obesity has become a big factor and one of the reason why is due to children not having physical activity part of their daily routine. Parents sometimes relay in the television to be some sort of a babysitter in case they are trying to finish any tasks they have. Making this caused a neglect of interaction with…
According to the article “How TV Affects Your Child”, the first 2 years of a child's life is critical for brain development. It goes on to state that TV can interfere with children interacting with other children which encourages learning and healthy physical and social development. The author believes that advocates are pushing for more educational television, but most feel zero television time is the solution. I do agree with the author when they state that they feel it is important for parents to monitor the content of what a child is watching and limits how much time is spent in front of a television. However, I do not think that no television is the answer. Let's take a look at some pros of television.…
Mr.Yee does not do a very good job arguing both sides of the story for the topic of “Parents Should Be Able to Control What Kids Watch”. If you read his article you can easily find out his point of view on this. He is very bias on this and does not present any counter arguments for the kid’s side. Mr. yee could have made a more persuading argument if he would have explained or had counterargument why parents should be able to control a big part of kids’ lives today.…
I agree with screen time limits for children. I believe it is excessive to allow too much screen time and not enough physical play time. Children need an equal balance of time management and suppervision.…
I believe that television should be censored. Everyone, not just children pick up things from t.v, and parents should not have to worry about what programs the family chooses to watch. Yes, its true there are parental codes, but i've seen time and time again teens, even young children break those codes or simply find a way around it. Whether its bad language or bad actions, television has an overall bad effect on society.…
The negative effects of television are huge. To minimize the potential negative effects of television, it's important to understand what the impact of television can be on children.…
When it comes to television there are appropriate programs for each age. And in this document, I will be talking about what happens when children do not watch age appropriate shows. Their minds, bodies, and feelings cannot handle adult shows. In this letter, I will be discussing the physical, mental, emotional consequences of watching inappropriate shows. my thesis is that if children do not watch inappropriate shows they will be healthier.…
The first reason why people shouldn’t watch too much television is because the content of many TV programs is not educational. Nowadays we can see movies, series, and shows that show violence, sex, and drugs. This has established wrong concepts among the people that influence them into having a negative behavior. Also, the impact TV has on children is worse because they grow up with the idea of a world where women must be slender and blonde to stand out, where problems can only be solved with money and violence, and where wars are inevitable.…
