FAMILIES OF TODAY

Ladies and gentlemen,
Mummies and Daddies,
We can guarantee
That what we are going to tell you is true !
And I’m sure that you will agree with us too.

When you get up in the morning,
All you want to do is (take a shower)
(or wash your face)
With your favourite facial wash
But when you finally have
The energy to walk to the
Bathroom, your sister beats
You to it.

At that moment, all you want
Is to scream loudly *”Mum ! SHE’S
HOGGING THE BATHROOM !”*
*“But Mum ! I need to get
Ready for school too !*
*”(sighs) This two kids… such a pain in the…”*
What !? *Neck I meant neck !* Ooooo…

Was there a time when
You needed your brother
Most ?
Yes, I walk into his room
Ready to blurt out all
My problems.
There he is texting his girlfriend
Every five seconds and
Tells me to go away
How would you feel ?
You would feel sad, right ?
*”I know I would !”*

In every girl’s life, there is
Sure to be a dream guy.
*”In mine, it’s a certain football captain”*
*”Oh my god ! Oh my god ! It’s him !”*
*”Look at his leg muscles !”*
*”WOW !”*
Eww… that’s so disgusting…
*”Hello… He’s mine…”*
Don’t you want to tell someone ?
Even if it’s not your best friend, you can always
Tell your sister because
She will always understand.

When you get home from school,
She’s not even there for you.
When you are doing your homework
She comes back and locks herself
In her room.
Why do teenagers do that ?

When you try to get her
To talk she shouts *”Leave me alone !”*
*”I don’t want to hear anything about your social life !”*
*”Just go away !”* and slams the
Door in your face. BANG !!! *”Ouch…”*

(We sigh)

If you want to go for a movie
Or hang out
At the shopping mall, you need
Money, right ?
So where would you get it ?
It’s not like we can grow money on trees.
You just ask your mum.
*”Mom can I have RM25 ? Please ?”*
*”Why do you need so much of money ?
Do you think I’m made of money ?
Go ask your

The PMP has a computerized scheduling feature used to schedule patient appointments. The program has a feature which will search for an available time for a doctor where the next appointment can be entered. The appointments for the day can then be printed allowing the staff to have medical records ready when the patient checks in. The PMP is used not only to record the patient information but also create and transmit electronic claims, receive electronic payments, bill patients, create financial reports, and collect on past due accounts. Medical offices just like any other business need to get paid to continue servicing their patients. The PMP assists with receiving insurance payments without a long delay because claims are generated and then can be sent directly to a clearinghouse or health plan. Claims sent to a clearinghouse will check the claims accuracy, if anything needs to be corrected the claim will be sent back to the medical office. The claim will need to be corrected before being processed. The PMP can also be used to post payments to the patient’s accounts once received by a remittance…

As an avid reader, I’ve been in many characters’ shoes like Bella and her love triangle in Twilight or Hamlet and his abyss of madness in Hamlet. However, I’ve always struggled to connect with characters that have close sibling relationships because I never had a Hansel to my Gretel or a Ron to my Ginny Weasley. I was born six years after my brother, Oscar, making it difficult for us to develop an inseparable bond like other siblings. When I was still listening to Taylor Swift, Oscar was already reciting lyrics to explicit rap music and hanging out with friends after school. Our parents treated us differently as well. Oscar was what my mother deemed as the “mistake child.” She often expressed her regrets of not pushing him harder in his academics. As a result, my brother’s grades suffered from his indifference towards school to the point where he was even held back a grade.…

    Text to Speech

At present most speech synthesis systems use raw text as their input which is understandable from a human point of view but problematic for the machines since the process of converting text to speech is very complex; in this paper we discuss the need for having a specific SSML tag for each “mention” (1st occurrence, 2nd occurrence) of a proper noun in the text or paragraph. We discuss that when a proper noun appears first time in the text, then it is spoken more prominently than its second or third or subsequent occurrence. We highlight the need for incorporating a specific tag in SSML to take care of this mention-case. The SSML format is a compromise between human and machine needs. SSML is often embedded in Voice-XML scripts to drive interactive telephony systems. However, it also may be used alone, such as for creating audio books. The advantage that SSML brings is that the designers of such language generation systems need only understand the basic SSML language and do not need specialist speech synthesis knowledge. Introduction Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) is an XML-based markup language for speech synthesis applications. SSML directs all Text Analysis steps, providing a standard way to control aspects of speech such as pronunciation, acronym expansion, volume, pitch, rate, range, duration, pause, emphasis, etc., across different synthesis-capable platforms. The intended use of SSML is to improve the quality of synthesized content. Different markup elements impact different stages of the synthesis process. The markup may be produced either automatically, for instance via XSLT or CSS3 from an XHTML document, or by human authoring. Markup may be present within a complete SSML document or as part of a fragment embedded in another language, although no interactions with other languages are specified as…

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been very passionate about music. I started singing in the Church choir when I was in kindergarten and took guitar and piano lessons. However, I didn’t realise how important music was to me until last year. I auditioned for the middle school Show Choir in seventh grade, but I didn’t get in. I decided I wasn’t going to pursue choir as an elective in school anymore, but by some stroke of luck I was put into a regular choir class the next year. Most likely this was because there was no other class for me to be in, but I’m grateful my schedule worked out this way. I was able to rediscover my love for singing and learn about basic music theory, which has led me to my desire to audition for the high school Show Choir.…

When picking my adolescent I had quite a few choices to pick from but I decided on my adolescent 15 year old sister since I know a lot about her and have seen first-hand how she is coping with this adolescent stage. Patricia is a normal 15 year old girl still in high school. She lives in a household of 7 with 3 older siblings and one younger one. She mentioned that she lived in a small home with three dogs, two fish, a bird and six other humans. Both her parents are field workers so they aren’t really at home much. Patricia has a younger 7 year old sister that she pays attention to a lot, they have a really close relationship, and she cares for her younger sister when her mother is at work. Patricia is in a special program in her high school called the International Bachelorette Program “IB,” this program challenges high school students and gives them and idea of what college is like after they graduate. She gets a lot of homework every day for all her classes, she manages to do all of it and still helps take care of her younger sibling.…
