Chris Watter's True Identity In How I My Husband By Alice Munro

During the reading of the short story “How I My Husband” by Alice Munro, the reader is introduced to a character named Chris Watters who literally flies into the plot told by the protagonist Edie. Chris, a pilot who learned to fly airplanes during the war came across to the reader as a carefree young man who flew from town to town selling rides in his plane to make an honest living. Only later during the short story did the reader understand the true identity of Chris Watters; though he was a young pilot, he was also a “Player” amongst the women he met and used their naïve mentality for his own pleasure which defines his true character.
