Christopher Columbus Hero
People all around the world celebrate Christopher Columbus Day every year on October 12th. Columbus is known for his navigating skills and being an exemplary explorer. After all, the explorer founded a New World, in which the world still lives in today. The legendary navigator originally wanted to prove that the world was round and in the making also discovered America. However, some individuals argue whether Christopher Columbus is a hero or a monster to society and people. Many individuals claim that he is a monster due to his actions with the slavery period, he was a not only a slave trader but also committed cruel crimes against the natives. A hero is someone who is supposed to do good deeds for not only himself, but the people surrounding him. It is a question in wondering why Christopher Columbus went on the voyages for freedom and something new to establish, but continued to do one of the worst crimes of all. Although he is seen to have brought things together between the two worlds, such as plants, increased foods, and sources for the two, his immoral decisions outweigh these items. These new items would have eventually made it and transformed to these people by a different explorer or even amongst themselves. There was a positive outlook for the Spaniards, but he left millions of other individuals hurt and devastated. Majority of schools only explore one side of the story while in the classroom, however it is essential to be presented all of the material, with everything that took place. Christopher Columbus did make an everlasting change on the world, combining the Old and New together, but made choices that can’t be replaced with complete positive thoughts. Whether he is considered a hero or monster is still remaining in today’s society while looking back on history, the treacherous acts find it hard to interpret the term hero when the name is said. Therefore, Christopher Columbus and his achievements can also be seen as negative and complete
