Family and the Church versus false doctrine

11/23/2014

In recent years, many of those who are trying to diminish or destroy the organization of family have been overly active. In a recent news article from BBC, the highest-ranking priest from the Catholic Church has made some pretty controversial statements about homosexuality, and urges his cardinals to develop an acceptable view in regard of homosexuality. Since the early days of mankind, God established the family and since the family has been the oldest and the most powerful organization that has ever been in this earth. Before there were any congregations, before there were the Vatican or any Popes, before

The Bishop of Rome (Pope Francis) in his recent declaration to the media said that the homosexual community has much to offer the Christian community, and totally ignore the biblical point of view about the subject, and then went on to say whom he really is to judge. The Bishop of Rome was half right on his statement, at least the last part of it. Who is he really to think that his opinion surpass God’s rules? Some preachers, priests and pastors have adopted the same approach about homosexuality in a quest to increase their congregation’s capacity, those men have become more interested in the quantity of people who are listening to them instead of the quality of the sermons. Some of them even went on to accuse those who are reticent from accepting their abomination point of view as bigot and close minded by pointing out that Jesus did not say anything about homosexual during His stay among us; however, just like Dr. Jeffrey Scott put it in the video, “Jesus did not say anything about homosexuality, however, he did not say anything about pedophile either but we are sure that He would be

“ The Love and acceptance of god must be brought to all people. The prejudice and hatred of the christian right must be rejected and fought. Those who act out of ignorance must be educated.” (Simpson, Bruce J.) All churches need to accept and love their homosexual members and stop rejecting them in the house of the lord. It’s god’s home, he wouldn’t want any tension between the sexes in the house.…

Through chapter 18 in Anthropology for Christian Witness Charles Kraft breaks down the different aspects of families around the world. Kraft brings up how in today's western society that the standard family no longer looks like a man and women and two children but ranges from having same sax parents to haveing one parent to being raised by an aunt or uncle or someone else in the community. “Given the fragility of western missionaries have taken it upon themselves to teach that nuclear families are God’s ideal and more biblical than extended families” (293 Kraft). (Which is absolutely ridiculous) Krafts goes over the different types of families the descent and inheritances in the family, the residence of families, the authority in the family, and what the average family looks like in american…

Other sociologists such as Parsons argue that the family has to provide the primary socialisation of children, to ensure the safety of society’s culture and the stabilisation of adult personalities. The family performs vital functions of society, and for all the individual members’ in it. “The family reproduces the next generation and thereby ensures the continuation of society over time” The quote explains that if there was no such thing as a family, then there would be no sexual satisfactions, as a result of this there would be no reproducing, and therefore could lead to the dying out of the population, which means humans would become extinct. However potentially disruptive it could be it is still necessary to sustain a bond between couples, also setting moral rules.…

The question is will we be judged for giving approval of something that’s abominable before him? We will be. That’s why it is very important to take a stand on such issues as these, I do not mean to say that we should start a witch hunt against anyone who has same-sex attraction, no that would be like indirectly committing another sin, they are after all human beings just like you and, me we should still love them but we don’t have to approve of the…

The key to the postmodern view of the family is choice. As times have moved on, people are looked down upon less for certain things and therefore have less of a threat to act upon their choices. Single parent families for example. As 40 years ago, the nuclear family was the norm. One person caring for the children by themselves was frowned upon, as people thought this person could not provide as well as 2 parents could, economically and emotionally and domestically. This is where choice comes in. Roles are now much more negotiable. This is demonstrated clearly in gay and lesbian relationships. There are 2 people of the same sex, therefore roles are very negotiable. There is no way of following traditional roles, so it’s peoples choice of which role they take on to provide for the family. For example both men may go to work, while a nanny is caring for a child. Then they may both come home, and take care of different domestic chores. This is Waters (1996) argument, which says it’s a matter of choice in the contemporary UK.…

The problem is, it can and cannot be, due to the fact this is religion versus homosexuality. Though the traces of anti-homosexuality can be traced back to media as most of leaders in media as such films back to the times of the of 1930s to the 1968, when the Production Code in the film industry didn’t allow any homosexuality to be shown on film. When it comes to the media homosexuality was not only barely shown, but it was hidden within the dialogue. So when it comes to the media influencing the rules of the church, it could’ve caused the rules of the church to be reinforced longer and more disciplinary. As it can be social inequality classes, the reason for this as I gave an example using the production code, is that only the rich and the powerful can spread their ideas to the people using the media to influence the people in the world. However, it also can be completely unrelated to the social inequality of classes, due to the fact that it is religion versus homosexuality. There can’t be a a argument that the group targeted against is targeted because of their social class. It can’t be due to money because having homosexual church members will only give more money to the church so even with money involved the stances will be the…

Christians claim that homosexuality is unnatural, that God mad man and women to love each other. Stating that the purpose of men/women sex is clear—reproducing the species. They are like a jigsaw puzzle they fit together perfectly, and that any other combination is not using the human anatomy for what it was made for. Catholics opinions are also stating that homosexuality is unnatural. Well looking at the Catholic religion—the community is full of the celibate man, if you can imagine such a thing, calling another person’s living style unnatural. If a man and a women are supposed to reproduce and the Catholics are made of celibate men then how do they reproduce? It is understood that a man/women sex is used to reproduce. Homosexuality is actually completely natural. There are over 500 animal species, including the great apes, of which humans are a part of. It was used to believe that homosexuality was a mental disorder; we are now decades past that belief. Society has recognized that homosexuality is natural. Christians say “but natural doesn’t mean good”, “Rape, violence, and cyanide are natural but harmful”. Rape…

As human beings we are all entitled to our rights to have a family. Society’s image of a perfect heterosexual family is just a stereotype. Nowadays kids today do not live with two married parents. The sexual identity of a child with gay parents develops the same way with heterosexual parents. Most gay or lesbian children are born into a heterosexual family. Children are more impacted by the communication with their parents rather than the sexual identity of their parents. Even living in a homosexual household children adapt quite well with their peers. Growing up with two homosexual parents the child tend to believe in equal rights and is sympathy towards differences. Gay parents are not accidental parents so they are much more devoted and inclined versus heterosexual parents who became accidental parents. ”It has be stated that children can be successfully raised by same-sex couple with no adverse effects that would not have been present if raised by parents of the opposite sex.” (LGBT Adoption Statistics) Traditionally family beliefs are not adequate proof for…

Many churches preached against gay rights, saying things like, “Homosexuals are sinners, god didn’t want this, and my favorite, god made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” “Leviticus 20:13 - If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.” (Bible). When people read things like this in the bible it’s basically telling them it’s okay to discriminate against others, such as homosexuals. It is so wrong that the bible consists of sch horrible, degrading passages, saying if a man is in sexual relations with another man they should be put to death. The bible also states, “Leviticus 18:22 - Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.” Don’t get me wrong I see no problem believing in god, but I don’t believe people should take the bible as serious as they do. The bible doesn’t only talk about discrimination against homosexuality, it also talks about how women must listen to their husbands, and different foods you shouldn’t eat because if you don’t obey the bible you are going to hell. Leviticus 19:27 reads, “You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard.” That’s basically saying you can’t cut your hair or you’re going to hell, which is complete stupidity. The bible also states, “You are to keep my statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.” The bible just has ridiculous “laws” that you must abide by like not mixing two fabrics, therefore saying you can’t wear polyester. I think it’s foolish that many people know the bible has irrational passages written in it, but insist on saying, “According to the bible homosexuality is…

Everyone imagines family as mother, father, sisters, brothers, grandparents and etc. To us it is normal family picture. However, today more families are described as “alternative” families. The numbers of lone parents, homosexual partners, or foster parents are obviously increasing. It can be the cause of the changes in law. In today’s world people have more rights than they had about 50 years ago. Especially women won their equality, so they can raise their children on their own or get married to other women. Same sex marriage is something new in the world (it first became legal in Netherlands in 2001). However, it is believed that same sex relationship existed since the ancient times. We can find a lot of examples of it in ancient art and literature. But it is just a small part in the world where same sex marriage now is absolutely legal. In the other parts of the world homosexuality is legal, but unions are not recognised. Watching at the map, the countries tolerates homosexuality are just developed…

The Catholic Church is one of the most recognized and practiced religions with an estimated “1.2 billion Roman Catholics in the world (BBC). There is strict order in the way the church is organized it is a diocese. The bishop overlooks local parishes that are spread out around the world. With a priest within those sanctuaries overlooking the church and to spread the word of god and help those in need. However, there is another side that many are afraid to speak about in society, the scandal that has been surrounded by breaking news stories and that the cover-ups of sexual misconduct within the Catholic Church diocese.…

    Family Definition

There are several different definitions of the word family in the dictionary. The first definition in the dictionary is, "kindred, especially one's own spouse, parents, and children". This definition goes along with the common perception of the traditional family. The traditional family has in the past served three primary social functions: providing a labour force, the transmission of property, and the education of children toprepare them to start their own family. This had created a cycle which allows humanity to expand and flourish. The offspring of one family make their own family and that family's offspring makes their own family and so on and so forth, the cycle continues. Children learn the methods that they will use in their life to create their own families. Without the support of this traditional family, society could not work because there is no way a child can live and learn on their own. Of course today the term “traditional” may not be politically correct as society is slowly recognizing and accepting LGBT families.…
