The most important reason is there customers; Nationwide is well known for giving excellent customer service. As Nationwide doesn’t have any shareholders, customers have a massive impact on the organisation meaning they listen to want their members want and change accordingly to remain number one.

Internal factors of organisations are generally under control of the company, take restructure for example. Nationwide had a massive restructure in there HR department separating recruitment and resourcing. Employees didn’t have the final decision on which senior they worked under, this restructure driven a lot of employees to work harder to get recognised by new senior. Another internal factor that affected Nationwide was the decision to hire Mortgage Consultants within their call centres. For a very long time banks and Building Society’s only had Mortgage Consultants in branches which affected a lot of people who worked the normal 9-5
