Our first amendment right protects freedom of speech. Although sometimes in peaceful civil disobedience we are not technically "speaking", but doing. This act did not harm society, but helped the Americans gain more Independence from Britain. Therefore the Boston Tea Party positively impacted the free society. Our government and society was built on acts of civil disobedience against Great Britain. We refused to follow their laws and broke away to become a free country in a new land. Without civil disobedience their would probably be no America just a much bigger Great Britain. Civil disobedience is more or less a courageous act that makes a big enough statement where the government acknowledges it. “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” This is a quote from Rosa Parks which can be found in the article "Rosa Parks and Civil Disobedience" which was written by Prerana Korpe. Rosa Parks is another example of person who participated in an act of peaceful civil disobedience to prove a point to the government and society. This act happened when African Americans were fighting for equal rights and freedom. Rosa Parks and many others were refusing to follow the segregation laws enforced by society. Rosa Parks would not give up her bus seat to a white person because she did not feel they were worth more than her. Since African American people practiced
