and situations that they agree or disagree with. Without this amendment we would not have different churches, rally's, or even presidential elections.this amendment gives us freedom of religion based off the free exercise clause which is the government cannot ban the practice of any religion and the establishment clause which is the government cannot create laws that state that one religion is a state religion, giving it more power. Religion is allowed as long as the government does not set up churches or influence certain religions. These laws have been been enforced , into the 21st century. Religion is allowed but not inside of school. This amendment makes up our government because we are apart of a democracy. Civil rights compared to civil liberties has given America a different approach when it comes to equality among the people.
It also ended slavery which allowed African Americans to be free men and women. There were 3 important amendments that had a major affect in the U.S when it came down to slavery and inequality. The thirteenth amendment that was passed in 1865, which states that slavery and involuntary service is illegal in the United States. The fourteenth amendment that says if you are born in the United States you are a U.S citizen and there are also three clauses that came along with this amendment. The due process clause that's states that no one can be disinherited of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. The privileges and immunities clause that says no citizen can be deprived of citizenship and the privileges and immunities of a citizen. Also the equal protection clause, that's states all citizens have equal protection under the law. These clauses give the people the right to live their lives , and have equal opportunity to live the American Dream. This has an affect on employment, living in a home, and being able to do certain things without them being interfered with. The last of the 3 amendments is the fifteenth amendment which states no one , including those who were slaves, can be denied the right to vote. These amendments were also known as reconstruction amendments that were passed around the 1860's and 1870's because it was a time of
reconstruction after the civil war. These amendments are used today and paved a way where everyone including women would be able to vote and there would no longer be inequality.
